I saw Donald & Goofy waterskiing in the 80s. It was awesome!
The "tiers of bathing beauties" rotated and water rained down from above.
I saw the Skiing Goofy show back in 72 or 74. I didn't know it made it into the Eighties!
I forgot about that ---
How about the boat ride in AK. They did that after AK opened but it was closed down after a few months.
New York Daily! The news boy that got sent to the corner (turned away from the ride guests in SSE. I guess it wasn't worth fixing his animatronics. At least that is the way he was when we visited last year. Any updates on the poor lad?
He was working when we rode it recently but he's still facing the corner. He moves and says "extra, extra, read all about it, civil war's over!"
Did he face forward at one time?
1. Mist off the top of Expedition Everest. I read that they stopped using it soon after the attraction opened due to it rusting the parts quicker or that it was effecting sensors on the ride.

he still faces away, but now there is a scene of a street, so he appears to at least be talking into a street, not just a blank wall.
I experienced an actual CM in a suit of armor while riding the HM ride at Disneyland many years ago.
While in my doom buggy with my friend, we cruised backwards through the hall of doors as is the process in that ride. Photos peered at us, doors knocked and breathed, and statues stared as usual. We passed by the knight in shining armor when, out of nowhere, he lunged at us -- reaching into our doom buggy and scaring the pants off of both of us!!! Not a fan of anything scary or any incident that causes me to jump, I screamed and yelled, flailing my arms around frantically at the poor actor, hitting him several times. Lucky for him he had is armor on...
I later learned that the "live" knight in Disneyland's Haunted Mansion was only implemented for a few short months in the park's history. The poor knight actors were assaulted numerous times by unsuspecting riders who "freaked out" when approached by this out-of-place character-come-to-life. The live knight was soon eliminated from the Haunted Mansion ride.
While it scared me to the bone -- and I still have a hard time riding through that corridor in the ride with my eyes open -- I am extremely happy to have experienced one of Disney's very brief but impactful park experiences!
Have not read the entire thread so not sure if this has been mentioned.
Back in the mid -eighties I remember seeing characters water skiing around the seven seas lagoon including goofy and donald duck. In fact when we were at river country donald duck skied right up on the beach and entertained the guests.
Does anyone remember this and have any pictures?
Awesome thread!!!
And maybe I dreamed this but didn't you used to be able to eat on a second floor in Pinochio's Haus?
My DW and I went in the mid 80s and we do have a picture of a character water sking. It wasn't a very well known character, might have been Mr. Smee from Peter Pan. Unfortunally it's not a digital picture so I can't post it.
