Attn. Chicago Area : Walt Disney Archives at Museum of Science and Industry

I've been planning to go since I learned about this about 2-3 weeks ago. Hoping to go this weekend.

Not sure when we're going to go..,,I need to pace myself like it's an upcoming trip to Disney!!!!

so want to go. I think hubby may take daughter out of school to go this week with her Uncle who is visiting, but I wont be able to go....hmmmm. Super excited for it so maybe I will do a solo visit later

We're about 5 hours from Chicago, but this might be a good Spring Break weekend get away! thanks for linking us up!

We saw the Disney Archives at MSI and loved what we saw. They had a lot to see/read/watch. We're going back to go through it again.

See, my husband and I went last month, and we were disappointed. We already knew all the stories and facts they highlighted there. And we expected more artifacts. By the end of the exhibit they just threw in a bunch of costumes from Enchanted and expected people to be impressed.

If we had paid for admission we would have felt ripped off. I think the average Disney fan will like the exhibit, but it was disappointing for the die-hard fans.

I would have to disagree. Yes, there were some stuff that we already knew (i.e history, Disney's upbringing)....It was nice to see replica of his office, Mickey Mouse club's outfit by Annette, animation process...I really didn't mind seeing the costumes from the movies even though we have seen them in the past at one point or another at Hollywood Studios. We go to Disney every year and I don't mind seeing the same stuff year after year. I guess that is why we enjoy Disney so much.

Be still my heart!! I know where we'll be on a day off from school. This is one exhibit I'm not missing!

We saw the exhibit this past weekend on a trip to Chicago. We had museum tickets for base admission that we "won" at a charity auction at my son's school, so, we had to pay for the exhibit at an undiscounted rate.

The exhibit itself was good. In my opinion, it was on a par with the other exhibits at MSI that visitors pay extra to see, specifically the coal mine and the submarine. It was as nice and informative as the exhibits/shows at Hollywood Studios, and had different artifacts than are seen there. The most interesting factoid was about the house that is Disney's birth place, which is still living.

According to the Chicago tribune, a couple in California recently purchased that house, and are thinking of renovating it and turning it into a museum. That would be interesting.
