Attire for embarkation.

Because it's usually pretty warm, we always wear shorts. I don't think you'll find too many (if any) people dressed up...... it's very casual.

You will see many people wearing different things. Some people dress up a little, some are casual, and then there are groups who will all dress alike for their embarkation photo. I didn't realize that we would have a photo taken, so the DH and I were pretty casual (shorts, t's and tennis shoes), because we had actually drove there that morning, so we wanted to be comfortable. Next time, I think we'll dress a little better so that I can take a better pic (if there is such a thing)! It's all up to you! :)

We just try to match somewhat so we don't clash with each other in the embarkation photo. We will wear shorts and then polo shirts or matching tee shirts.

Hi Skallywag!

It was mostly casual attire. There are some who obviously care more about the embarkation photo who were dressed better or in matching outfits. I haven't seen very many good embarkation photos - you have been waiting in line, your are carrying your carryon bags (there is a spot to set them down for the photo) and you really want to get it over and actually board the Magic - Not the best time for a great photograph! I looked at a lot of them at Shutters and most people just looked distracted and a little sweaty :)

Now, I do try to dress our family in lime-green. Not for a matching photo, but to make it easier to meet up with other DISers at the terminal while we are waiting to board.

Most cruisers are casual -- shorts, etc. If you have kids, pack swims suits in your carry on so that they can swim after lunch. There are plenty of public restrooms to change. Staterooms are usually accessible after 1 or 1:30 p.m., however, luggage arrives at the staterooms throughout the afternoon. Enjoy!

We actually like our embarkation picture. We wore the matching Disney ts in navy. The kids had their ears on too. :)

How is the embarkation photo different than other photos? Is there a special background or is it taken in front of the boat? Is there only one background or do you have a choice? Anyone have one to post so I could see?

thanks!
2 more months for our first cruise! :cool1: :cheer2:

Wear Lime green, lots of lime green.

I am sure there are always SOME good embarcation photos - my comment was just because ours looked distracted and disheveled and I looked at some of the others at Shutters and saw that they had the same sort of look :). If you want a better than usual one, then it is a good idea to get prepared as they start the boarding and make sure everyone's hair is combed, shirts are tucked or straight, etc.

There is only one background. After you walk through the Mickey Ears, they check your KTTW card and then point you toward the lineup for the photo. It is in the hallway on the way toward the ship. (You can bypass it if you want, but most people do it.) The background last October was a sepia colored photo of "old fashioned" clothed people leaving on a cruise. I'm afraid I don't have one to post since I didn't buy ours. I think the sailing date was printed on the photo as well.

Here is ours from last year. I like the vintage background that they use.

The will also do a shot of it with your picture in the middle & shots of Mickey & the ship around the edge like a frame. We got that one last year since we didn't like the picture as much.

Thanks! Nice picture! I was just wondering since we have matching Mickey shirts and thought this would be the best time to wear them! Hope that is the same background for the Wonder too, I like the sepia.

Beautiful photo!!!

Something very comfy, shorts/tee and sandals to sneakers. Sometimes we put swimsuits underneath, sometimes not.

We don't dress up as it gets to be a long day.

It is hot when the ship isn't moving, so cool would be the word of the day.
As long as we were moving, I wasn't overly hot, although I thought I would melt while in ports.

I wish they'd get rid of that ugly background for the emb. photos.

That's not at all what I thought it would look like! A little disappointed - I really don't like fake backgrounds and would prefer it to be somewhere on the ship. Isn't there a statue of Ariel somewhere maybe with a staircase in the back? That would really say "look we're on the ship now, our cruise is started!" Background pictures can be taken anywhere/anytime :(

Oh well. We're wearing color coordinated blue & green casual outfits.

Actually on The Magic it is Captain Mickey. Having the picture taken there would really not work since you board the ship at that level in PC. The pictures are taken prior to getting on the ship so it doesn't affect the flow as much. In the atrium the CMs greet you & help direct you where you want to go.

Do this - as a couple have 1 person dress up like Mickey Mouse and one person have a name tag and act like an escort - pose for lots of pics with kids in the terminal and then just go with the flow onto the ship. I haven't actually tried it but....
