Attention: Wyndham Resort Owners (and Renters)

Wyndham Vacation Resorts has sent out the following announcment with the 2008 Year End Statement:

"..........In response to feedback from many owners, and so (that) we are able to ensure your accounts are being securely and accurately maintained, the transferring of points feature will no longer be offered as of March 1, 2009".

There are several "Wyndham Owners" discussion boards that are actively discussing this matter. I would strongly urge Wyndham TS owners to subscribe to the following discussion boards and keep up-to-date on what Wyndham TS owners are saying about this change in benefits.

To elaborate a little for those who are not owners:

Many folks who have a significant business in renting Wyndham reservations do so by renting points from other owners, and applying their VIP status (which carries over to all points in their accounts) to obtain discounted reservations for their renters.

This new policy (if it sticks---and it might) means that such "landlords" will have access to fewer points each year they can rent out to others. It might also mean that a few of them leave the business entirely. If this results in a non-trivial reduction of inventory available for rent, expect rental prices to go up.

It's worth noting that DVC enacted a similar restriction limiting point transfers between members for much the same reason, though DVC members still get one transfer (in or out) per year---Wyndham owners will not have any.
