There've been a lot of conflicting reports on this. I flew 2/4 (on 2 separate Southwest flights). Although both flights were too full to allow people to move, I heard from someone that Southwest will let people move (if there are empty seats), but they can only move a parallel seat or back further, although lots of other airlines let people move forward to empty seats at no charge (and lots of people complain about other airlines allowing this-that people end up with the "better seats"for free whereas the complainers had paid extra). But then I heard here from someone did move forward to a higher "category" without paying. So who knows! No move at all, OK to move but no move forward, or move anywhere without cost to wherever is an empty seat. It's been reported by many that they aren't able to move period. Not simply a person wanting to move to an Extra Legroom seat (which is in two places on the plane the front and near the exit in the middle). I'm not debating if you've heard or been on a flight that has allowed moving, I am saying that the opposite has occurred as well that no moving at all has been advised to people on various flights.
