New DisneyAwards Site
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello,

We have completed the basic functionality of the new site.

Each person will need to reregister at the new site. All new registrations will be required to confirm the registration request by clicking a hyperlink in an email that will be sent to the email address you provided during the registration process.

Once your new registration is completed, you be able to log in to the new site. Your award totals for the daily and weekly visits will be credited in real time. We will strive to automate as many procedures, but some automation will be beyond our control.

Here are a few notes about how the new site will work. You must be logged in to receive proper credit for any visit to a sponsor’s site. When you click a sponsor's advertisement, their site will open in a new window. Your name and award balance will show in the top portion of the new browser window, and the sponsor’s site will be displayed in the bottom portion. After 30 seconds, you will be credited for your visit to that site and your point total will automatically update in the top portion of the new window. Remember that you must be logged in to receive proper credit. If you are not logged in, the top portion of the browser window will display a name of "Guest" with an award total of zero points. (For you clever people who might want to try to register with the username "Guest" to try to claim these unassigned visits, it will not work :-) If you find that you have clicked on a sponsor’s while not logged in, simply go to the login page and enter your information. You may then go back to that sponsor and visit their site again to receive proper credit (i.e. You will not lose the opportunity to be credited should you visit as a guest, and then come back a few minutes later logged in as yourself).

The new site uses cookies. You *MUST* have cookies enabled to ensure proper functionality. There is no way around this. The login cookie will expire 24 hours after you log in. So, if you visit a sponsor site, shut your computer off, come back three hours later, and visit another sponsor’s site, you should still be logged in. If you try to visit a sponsor’s site after your login cookie as expired, you will visit as a guest (see instructions in the preceding paragraph). If you try to access the member area after your login cookie has expired, you will be prompted to enter your login information. If you have a technical question about the cookies we are setting or why we coded something like we did, please feel free to email me. I would be more than happy to explain our reasoning behind things.

Please remember that the site will be evolving over the next month. Not all features of the new site have been implemented. We wanted to implement the basics and then expand the rest of the site.

Lastly, we are having one minor delay with the DNS servers of the new site (DNS servers are used by your web browser to locate any website that you visit). We hope to have this resolved tomorrow morning (Wednesday). Some of you may experience a delay of a few days while the changes propagate over the Internet while some of you will be able to access the site right away. This is a standard Internet delay and is beyond our control. The bottom line is we will be live for some people starting tomorrow, and over the next few days the rest of you should be able to access the new site!

If you have any comments, suggestions, or (heaven forbid :-) find any bugs, please feel free to report them to me (email address to be put in a separate posting). I will obviously fix any bugs.

Please watch for a new post in the next day with additional information.

Sincerely,
Stacy & Bob

Kristen

Bumpin' so it doesn't get buried for those who might be interested.

Thanks!

Just a question or two, what is the address to the new site?

Has anyone been able to access it yet?

I went to both .net and .com and didn't find anything. Guess it is not ready on my side of the internet yet.

I couldn't get in either. I tried .net and .com just like you did. I e-mailed Kris and posted on the DA forum asking about the addy. I'll post here when I find out anything.

We are waiting to get ahold of the gentleman who own the new server host. Once we contact him and pay him the site will go live.

It will be Disneyawards.com

Remember though that it will not be completely finished, just the basics. Over the next few weeks the rest of the site will come online.

Thanks for the info! I have a friend or two who were thinking of registering. I'll pass the addy on to them and suggest they wait until the rest of the site is live to save them some possible confusion.

the website address is www.disneyawards.com and the website reads they are updating files and it should be up in three hours!!! ps Kris wrote a lovely sentiment on the disawardsboard, here is a copy of it --

By the way...........................

Did I mention that I am no longer the sole owner of Disney Awards??????????????????

Well I would like to invite you all to welcome my 2 new partners.

Bob: who is obviously handling the technical aspects of the site and programming we will continue to need for a long time to come.

Stacy: who cleans up after Bob (he can be quite messy you know) she makes everything look good.

Lastly is Kris: The creator of this dream and the one with all of the hairbrained ideas.

So keep dreaming right along with us and don't forget to keep reading posts here and in Henwen's. There will be a lot of new tips for the new changes that you will see coming online over the next month or so.

Also, we will not be Disneyawards.net. We will for the time being be Disneyawards.com. Unfortunatley Homestead has tied my hands with getting disneyawards.net w/o them. As soon as it becomes available I will try to get it again.

Thanks we'll let you know when we are live.

One more thing: I got to see the site the other day and let me tell you what brought tears to my eyes. I went to visit sites and clicked on a sponsor. There at the top was what I have been waiting to bring you all for over a year. I was so happy to see it finally get to the point where we are just like every other site. Making us the ONLY site that is a rewards program that cares about it's members and pays its members for what they do. Not to mention We are the only site that will be giving away passes and resort giftcerts. I also cried because I feel like over the past year I have truly mothered all of you and now that this is done you won't need me any more. It will truly be a sad but happy day when we go live again. I hope not much changes with our community but I know that more people then ever will be signing up. I will still be around working on something else for you all.

To Bob & Stacy............................I could not have done this without you nor would I ever imagine you both not being here to be a part of my dream. I truly have come to love and appreciate your talents, skills and most of all your friendship.

THANK YOU

Yipeeee! I finally got the "we will be back . . . " page to come up, I am getting so excited!!

It's UP!!!!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

It looks great. I'm heading over to re-register now.

How do you register? I pulled up the site, which was hard to read and could not find a place to register.

Thank you.

On the home page to the left you will see the place to sign-in. Right under that it says "undNot a member? Click here to register. First review DA for Dummies before you agree to terms"

I know it has been a long hard haul.

Also just thought you should know MSN only offers members one email account per membership so members of MSN usually have hotmail addys and you do not accept hotmail.

What happened to all the points that we got before they changed the site over? I had over $10 in Disney $$. Will I lose that? I did re-register though using the same user name but needed to change my password.
