Attention Hollywood: No more remakes!!

Originality is dead AND it's Hollywood is humiliating it's corpse. I'm all for tweaking a story to make it fresh, but out and out do-overs of classic (and not so classic films)??? SO unnecessary. Just read that J-Lo has been tapped to star in a remake of one of my favorite comedies...Overboard. WHY?? That movie is hilarious and needs to be left alone! Let's take a look at several other re-dos currently finished, in the works or rumored...

You want to base a movie on the original and make a film inspired by a classic original...go for it. But these do-over Reboots are out of control! FTR, I am only going to see Clash of the Titans to oogle Sam Worthington. The original was one of my favorite movies as a kid.

Agreed. I'm dreading the idea that people are going to re-do all the John Hughes movies at some point I just have a feeling now that they have gotten attention again that some studio is going to go back and remake them all. And could somebody explain why we are already re-doing Spiderman? I agree about Metropolis 100% too...that shouldn't be touched ever. I'd just like to find a good copy to buy, if anyone has any links hint hint

Also, not a remake but they are making a Nirvana movie.................. I just can't see them doing justice even though (maybe especially lol) because Courtney Love is heavily involved. Supposedly she wants Ewen McGregor to play Kurt.

DH and I have noticed that as well (Clash of the Titans is the newest re-make). Sure, the technology now with CGI is much better than before or prior to it coming out. And some movies look better with it. But I think they are going overboard with re-makes. Where is the creativity

Creativity is dead and has been for decades...I guess on the plus side we don't have to see the 40 year old virgin XII. I will take the remakes over the dead horse beating franchises like Police Academy engaged in.

I absolutly HATE remake movies!!! Is it so hard to come up with an interesting movie these days Because of the writers lack of creativity, I haven't been to the movies for god know how long!! I mean really

J-Lo in Overboard? I hate it already. That movie is hilarious, and there's no way she would be able to come close to Goldie Hawn's performance. I agree....NO MORE REMAKES.

I am excited to go see a new Clash of the Titans.

Anyway every chick flick is inspired by Jane Austen and action movies are ripped off from Japanese anime. That is Hollywood.

I just don't care.

As far as Spiderman, thank goodness. I could not stand Tobey Keith as Peter Parker and Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane. It was just an odd match for me.

I wish they would remake "The DaVinci Code" now. I will never get over Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon.

We are lucky in that we live in a big city so we get a lot of indie flicks. Hollywood and TV is sorely lacking any imagination.

Kind of reminds me of a Arnold Schwartzenager movie where they talk about Rocky - 5,000 that is.

They are remaking Overboard there is no way J-Lo can do that role justice. It would be an okay remake if it had the right people.

They are remaking SPiderman?? That movie isn't that old.


What I hate is when they try to remake the classics. They always screw those up

There have been many very good re-makes, but Jennifer Lopez is horrid. Not bad on the eyes, but she cannot act.

That said, Overboard wasn't exactly a "classic". I wouldn't watch a re-make if it starred a scantily clad Angelina Jolie.

When I was in HBO reading scripts, nearly ALL of the treatments began with "in the tradition of".... NOTHING is original!

I heard catherine zeta jones say the other day that she wants to remake The war of the roses with her husband michael douglas. i think hes too old for the part now and i dodnt think that anyone could do that movie justlce like kathleen turner did! leave it alone!

Overboard remake that's crazy. I won't even watch it if they remake it. I love that movie, no matter how many times I've seen it I still laugh, so so funny. Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell so great together, I wish they would do more movies together.

I agree about the DaVinci Code, that one I would love to see a remake. They did a horrible job with it, not just having Tom Hanks but they left out so much of what really made the book so interesting. I didn't like any of the actors they put in it either.

I think the only movie Hollywood should remake is Disneys Haunted Mansion!! thats my favorite ride ever and i was so happy to hear they were making a movie of it. But eddie murphy was downright awful and the kids they hired to play his kids were the worst actors ever! at the death scene for the mom, the kids were looking right in the camera with no emotion whatsoever. I did love Terance Stamp though, hes good in everything!
