Attention all MNSSHPers

I sent an email asking about the park closing procedure and here is my response:

Thank you for writing to the Walt Disney World Resort. Your comments
are appreciated, and a member of our staff will contact you for further
details, if necessary.

3disneybugs- that is the exay response I got- that was over a week age. "a member of our staff will contact you for further
details, if necessary." I don't think I will hear anything else.

I know I'm new here but I just have to say something. This is Disney-"The Happiest Place On EArth"!! We go to Disney because we LOVE it. Where is all your magic at??? Does Tinker Bell need to come over and help you find a happy place?? :tinker: :tinker: :tink: :tink:

Yes WDW is our happy place...that doesn't mean we have to be happy about every last decision they make.

This whole situation stinks and yes it does cost money. And no I really don't want to have to share my special party with those that didn't pay, but I'm sure this has happened in the past, you just weren't aware of it.
Actually people here know it has happened in the past. HOWEVER, since the park has closed at least an hour before the party has started in the past, the potential for people doing that has been incredibly smaller. Now that there's a possibility of not having that hour in between, the chance of it happening with considerably more people is much higher.

You need to remember one thing-if you are there with your children and they see you unhappy and upset how is that going to make them feel?? They aren't going to understand what is going on. Do you want them to enjoy the party and have special stories and memories to tell their friends? Or do you want them to go home and tell their friends that "daddy or mommy got into a fight at Disney"

I know it is frustrating but you need to:
REMEMBER THE MAGIC!!! pixiedust:
Who said anyone here is going to get into a fight? This is precisely why we're trying to take care of things now. We're not forgetting the magic, we're trying to keep it alive.

2 years ago at the Christmas party and last year at the Halloween Party, I said to my DH " Why would anyone want to pay for the party if you can get it for free" He agreed, but as usual, we buy our tickets, just like this year. I guess if you dont want the free picture, or to ride any rides, you can experience hallowishes, and the parade for free...i dont understand the reasoning for Disney to charge for something, only to let people have it for free. :confused3

At the Christmas party, we enjoyed the cookies and hot chocolate, and at the Halloween party, we liked the character interaction and getting candy :goodvibes . But if you dont want to ride the rides that will be open, then what's stopping anyone from staying?

What about if you already purchased a ticket for MNSSHP for lets say thursday, but you were in MK late on Saturday and you decided to watch the parade again and hallowishes again...should these people be "allowed" to say?? I guess it's if you get caught! I dunno...it's another one of those moral issues. Put it next to Pool-hopping and refillable mugs... :rotfl:

I spoke again to another CM today to verify that there are a limited number of tickets sold for the event. Again she verified as an example, MK capacity is 600 people so 400 tickets are sold to the party. They have added more dates so that they can avoid as many sell out parties they have had in the last few years. So how is it possible they can allow ANYONE to stay that has not paid even for the shows and not know how large the crowd is?

Kelly
I'm not doubting what the CM told you, just don't believe it based on the throng @ MVMCP early in Dec. on a weekday, we could hardly move. It was more crowded than it was during the day...assume there were many day guests who stayed for the festivities.

It will be swell if they do indeed make an attempt to clear the park & even make an effort to consistently check wristbands. If you already have 30,000 people in the park & two-thirds leave, you'll still have 10,000+ whatever tix # they sell. We found it rough to snag a parade spot, even for the later parade.

As for CS's remaining open, the only venue in Tomorrowland before Wishes during MVMCP that was still open was Cosmic Rays...didn't see anything in Fronterland area open. It's one of the reasons we booked LTT.

Third email. I would like to point out that I have not purchased tickets but I think there is a valid concern here about what's fair to ticket holders. I think anyone who says to trust Disney on this issue is being naive. Oh, and Beattyfamily, I hope it's OK to call you my friend. :) Apologies to pirate/princess ticket holders but it's just my opinion.

To Whom It May Concern:

A friend received a call from Michelle at Disney's Executive Offices confirming that the Magic Kingdom will not close to day guests until 7pm on Halloween party nights. Michelle said that the parties will be run like the evening Extra Magic Hours (EMH) with simultaneous park closing/party starting.

First I would like ask that Disney not add insult to injury by equating the hard ticket events with the EMH nights. EMH nights are free to all resort guests and the hard-ticket events cost dearly. I also expect that Disney's park clearing efforts are not very effective as they'd like to think as I have heard many stories of how people have learned to abuse the EMH system to stay in the parks. I predict that with a 7pm closing time, it will not be long until they figure out how to abuse the hard ticket events as well. Ticket holders expect, and rightly so, that the event is exclusive from start to finish.

Another concern is that with simultaneous park closing/party starting, day guests will most certainly be everywhere when the parties start. They will still be in line for the rides, eyeing the Halloween decorations, in line to see the characters in costume, etc. Who will be in a hurry to leave? I predict total chaos and many scenes as CMs try to give the "bum's rush" to lingering day guests. Quite simply, there is a precident in place as to how the parks are cleared for the Halloween and Christmas parties. To change that precident after ticket sales have begun is, at the least, in very bad form and at the most, actionable.

My suggestion would be that if Disney wants to experiment with new park closing procedures for hard ticket events, they should start with the new parties in 2007 as there is no expectation about how those parties will be run. If you perfect the park sweeping techniques to the satisfaction of the ticket holders at those parties, then no harm done.

I ask that Disney consider closing the Magic Kingdom to day guests at 6pm for all 2006 parties and then, if there is to be a change this monumental next year, an announcement can and should be made concerning the change before tickets go on sale. This would seem to be the only reputable thing to do.

Thank you for your time.

No problem, and very well written! :goodvibes

lexmelinda: What an awesome email. Very well written.

I also sent an email this morning. I want to encourage everyone to call and email. Maybe if we continue to bombard them, they will pay attention.

I will let you what I hear.

I'm also still waiting to hear from Disney. I hope they are overwhelmed with emails and calls citing everyone’s concern with how they propose to clear the parks before the parties. I also hope they are swayed to continue the clearing as in the past. Time will tell. :confused3

I ALSO got the standard reply ( 8 days after I sent original email!) saying they will reply if necessary.

WELL, HELLO YES, IT IS NECESSARY to ME !!!! thats why I wrote. :confused3

So i repied back to them saying, YES it was necessary for them to reply to me please, as NONE of my very valid questions were answered.

I'm awaiting there reply!

I urge anyone who got the standard "push off, we dont care" e mail from disney , to send it back to them, demanding a reply.

I think this is VERY rude!

They havent changed ANY info on their site, so as far as I can see all my concerns are still valid, which is why I took the time to write BEFORE the party for clarification, NOT during or after it !

:furious: :furious: :furious: :furious:

Sent off another email today. Never got a response to my 1st email. I will keep trying to contact them and am still trying to keep a positive attitude about it all. I think that we all all doing the right thing by being proactive and this thread has become a great place for those who are trying to affect change to discuss their efforts.

In reading this thread, I've seen several different things posted about when you can enter MK with the MNSSHP ticket; has that been confirmed by anyone with WDW? We were planning on doing what we've done for every Halloween and Xmas party we've attended since 1999, and entering at 4 PM with the MNSSHP ticket. This is very important to us this year, as we have a reservation at LTT for an early dinner...If we have to burn a day on the park hopper so be it, but I want to be prepared to schedule my trip appropriately if that is the case.

Sent e-mail to both. I also will be going. and have bought tickets, so
I hope they do close the park to non ticket buyers.

My emails have gone out. by the way. I pointed out that is could be considered a bait and switch as the said the park would close at 6 to the genereal public and once tickets were purchased they changed the rules. This is considered a no no in a lot of places.

Unless I'm mistaken, this is the same policy that was used for MVMCP last year, which we attended. At the time I was very skeptical that it would work, but it looked to me as if the system in place was very efficient in removing those who did not have party tickets. I was quite impressed!

Plus, for those there with tickets, I was appreciative of the fact that I did not have to leave for an hour or so just to wait in a massive line to get back in. I'm sure everyone with a ticket would want to be in the front of that re-entrance line to take full advantage of the alloted time. After dealing line park lines all day, that would be a lot of fun!

I just want to commend you all on your efforts! I hope it all works out for you and that they realize the impact this could have on next years events if they do nothing to help the current situation!

I just wanted to check in and say I did send 2 emails and got an automated response to 1 of them. This was last week. I included my phone #, so if they wanted to call me (as some posters did get calls). I will be there on the 9/29.

Unfortunately this was not the case for us at last year's MVMCP. The place was teeming with people, many of which did not have a wristband, and yes, they were being allowed to get on the rides all night long. I really hope that Disney can do a better job with these events this year.

Here's the message I sent:

To Whom it May Concern:

My family purchased four tickets to attend Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party on Sept 29th. We recently heard that unlike years past, the park will NOT be closing for an hour to clear the park of day guests. Without this new policy being made clear before the tickets went onsale, I fell like this practice is a bait and switch. I have spent over $150 to experience the magic of the party - the parade, the decorations, and the fireworks. Now I find out that I could simply have gone to the Magic Kingdom that day and stuck around to experience the same things. Most party attendees are not there to ride rides, so preventing lingering day guests from riding is not a problem. The problem will be larger than anticipated crowds along the parade route similar to the extremely large extra magic hour crowds.

There may only be a few weeks before the first Halloween party, but I hope that Disney chooses to close at 6 as in previous years. I do not wish my hard earned money to go towards testing a new policy. The least Disney could have done was give potential ticket buyers a heads up as to the new policy rather than leaving us with pricey non-refundale tickets OR lowered the ticket price for the test run parties in case crowds are larger than expected.

These people had the same problems getting Disney to listen to their emails- How do I email wdw about pool temp?
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1142335

We had some huge threads last year about how Disney turned down the temps in the pools so that it was uncomfortable to swim in Jan/Feb....
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=13426124#post13426124

Disney BIG Boss- "people don't spend money if they're just floating around in the swimming pools"

Some people laughed because they didn't do much swimming anyway, so they didn't care that Disney was adding new rules aimed at short-changing guest (as long as it wasn't them).

It really hurt at the Delux resorts, I spent $550 a night for the beach club, only for the main pool to be too cold to enjoy :sad2:

It looks like the same Executives at Disney that came up with the COLD POOLS POLICY are now taking their special brand of cheap sneaky management to other events that do effect other guests enjoyment. Slippery slope :smooth:
