Well we were woken up last night at 4.30am by a massive bang. Scott went to check what it was and saw two people trying to force the lock on the front door. Thankfully they made such a racket that it woke us up and they scarpered when they saw Scott come down the stairs.

Had the police out at 5am searching the area (apparently there's been a spate of identical crimes recently and the description of a suspicious car Scott gave them exactly matched one reported stolen a few nights ago.) Police were here again this morning to take a statement and they attempted to do fingerprints but the rain scuppered that. Basically I've had an hour of sleep since 4.30am, Scott too. But just being thankful that they didn't get in and we're all ok.

Right now we're waiting on the locksmith. He's been out to us but we've opted for a high security lock which he needed to go and get so we're just waiting for him to get back. Just what we wanted for today, we're meant to be over with mum taking her out for the day as it's mother's day weekend here. Oh well, at least we're ok and nothing was taken, policeman thinks they were after the car keys as our car was on the driveway but it has an immobiliser fitted.

That's really horrible. I'm sorry you've have to experience that. At least they didn't get in though :grouphug:

OMG! How horrible!!! :sad2: Glad they were scared off and you're both OK!!! Stealing car keys is huge round here at the mo. Not long ago my DS22 was sleeping in the living room, due to the in-laws in his room, and a guy tried to get in thro' a tiny open window. Fortunately he woke DS up and legged it as soon as he saw him. We have two decent cars on our drive and the police said he would definitely have been after the keys...

There's been several like this which is why he suspects it. Even more compelling is the fact that our house had the car on the front, an obvious indicator around here that someone is in. Next door's cars weren't there (they're away a lot) which would be a better target for someone after contents.

 How awful Sophie, thank goodness they didn't get in - I hope you're OK

Sadly I've been burgled twice. Once was in my teens when I was still living at home and we had a big old corner house in London. We were woken up by burglars who had managed to get in and taken loads of stuff from downstairs.

We were told we (my dad and I) should not have gone downstairs, but to have called the police immediately. So please take care everyone.

Thank goodness you disturbed them, and chances are they won't try again because of th is.

Absolute scum of the earth these people:mad:

Sorry to hear that, at least they were disturbed before they could get in:hug:

sorry to hear that:hug:

That's terrible thank goodness they didn't get in, we too have had a spate of similar night time burglaries here but they have always stolen handbags etc and left the car keys

that is so scary, I am glad you are both ok, big hugs to you both

Thats terrible, thank goodness you are both ok

That must have been horid. I'm glad they didn't take anything and more importantly you are both ok

You poor thing, glad that you disturbed them and that nothing was taken.
I know how it feels....

Oh, Sophie, how awful. I hope you and Scott are both OK

Laur's xx
