Attempted Burglary Last Night

Well we were woken up last night at 4.30am by a massive bang. Scott went to check what it was and saw two people trying to force the lock on the front door. Thankfully they made such a racket that it woke us up and they scarpered when they saw Scott come down the stairs.

Had the police out at 5am searching the area (apparently there's been a spate of identical crimes recently and the description of a suspicious car Scott gave them exactly matched one reported stolen a few nights ago.) Police were here again this morning to take a statement and they attempted to do fingerprints but the rain scuppered that. Basically I've had an hour of sleep since 4.30am, Scott too. But just being thankful that they didn't get in and we're all ok.

Right now we're waiting on the locksmith. He's been out to us but we've opted for a high security lock which he needed to go and get so we're just waiting for him to get back. Just what we wanted for today, we're meant to be over with mum taking her out for the day as it's mother's day weekend here. Oh well, at least we're ok and nothing was taken, policeman thinks they were after the car keys as our car was on the driveway but it has an immobiliser fitted.

Oh Queenie, I'm glad you and Scott are ok. Not very good burglars if they wake up the people they are trying to rob. Maybe they thought you were moved out since the for sale sign is in the front yard.
Be mindful the next few weeks if there is peaked interest in people wanting to see the house. They might be casing it to come back. Don't hang your keys on a hook and remove anything of value from the house today.

Extra tight hugs from me. Be careful!

ETS tell the mums I said Happy Mothering Day!

:grouphug: HOW TERRIBLE!!!

Glad they didn't get in and everyone is OK!! So Scary!!

I have nightmares about that kind of thing when DH is not home.

I am so glad you are both okay!

Tell Mums "Happy Mother's Day".

Glad to hear you all are okay.. I'm so sorry that happened to you.. Good idea for going w/ the high security lock..

I always worry about that stuff... another reason why DH put a motion light on the front porch..scares the crud out of people.. I too worry when DH is gone.. must be why I don't sleep while when he is out.... but on the otherhand, he is a heavy sleeper anyway, it'd be me that got up w/ the bang in the night... Another reason we have a bat under the couch.. not the kids playing ball in the house.. it's mom's weapon on demand!

Hope you get out to see your mum still today...

How scary! happy your safe and sound, try to get some sleep tonight!

We have a security system, it scares the begezzers out of you when it goes off (thanks to DH forgetting to turn it off one morning) so I feel really safe when DH is gone.

It's good to hear that everyone is okay! I'm sorry this happened to you and your family. Best Wishes and I hope you are able to get some sleep tonight!

What a way to wake up.:scared1:

Glad you guys are okay, smart to get a security lock, and stay on guard while people are looking at your house while its for sale.

Happy Mums Day to The Queenie Mum.:flower3:
