Hi ...we're just back from a 8 day eating-fest
it was awesome!

just a few things that you might want to know ... first of all
no one can tell that you are dining for "Free" ... it just looks like you're on a dining plan (the one that people pay for)

most of the CM i spoke with had no idea that dining was offered for free.

so go and enjoy and dont feel guilty

we spent $883.88 in "free" dining ... thats for 2 adults and one child!

came home with four mickey rice krispy treats too!

DH, DD, and i split CS meals for lunch on most days ... two meals was plenty for the three of us ... and then we would use "extra" meal for breakfast. We would order a adult breakfast platter with a side (dessert) of oatmeal or grits ... and that was more than enough for breakfast.

we had made ADRs for 7 out of 7 nites, but after a day at TL we were to wiped to go into epcot for dinner ... we're able to combine that meal and friday nite's meal and get into Hoop-de-doo ... show was fun - food was fair (also we were still stuffed from lunch at flame tree BBQ - the one lunch that we used 3 cs credits --- waaay too much food)

sit-down dinner every nite can get exhausting ... so if you're thinking about combining one for a 2-credit meal ... do it.
the nite off was so nice and relaxing!

don't forget you CS dessert! some places have pre-packaged desserts that made it back to our room fridge with no problem ... you might want to invest in a insulated cooler bag ... we brought water into the parks and used the bag to transport extra desserts.

at the water parks ... they gave us coins to turn in for dessert later ... so our ice cream didnt melt while we were eating lunch.

Oh ... one thing to know
we came across three different families who knew nothing about the free dining promotion ... two we're paying out of pocket for the dining plan and one was jsut buying meals as needed.

the dad of the last family (of 5) was spending close to $150 per day for food .. another large extended family group had booked through AAA ... got a room discount but paid for dining ... didnt do the math but i imagine free dining (if you're eating like pigs like us had to be a better deal.) First young couple i spoke with ... we're happily talking about how much the dining plan was saving them (i figure it cost them about $70 per day for 5 nites) ... thankfully i realized halfway thru the conversation that they had no clue about the free dining so i didnt tell them ... didnt want to ruin their fun!

so be careful as you are gleefully eating your free meals --- the person next to you could be paying for it and you could ruin their vacation!

overall it was a totally fantastic experience ... you WILL have a magical trip!

Thanks for the post. Glad you had a great time. We're still debating about the dining plan for May 2006. 2 adults, 1 junior and 1 child. But, sharing breakfasts and lunches sound good. We typically have 1 sit down per day. Thanks again!

That's very thoughtful of you to keep your free dining windfall to yourself when talking to people who paid for it...

I know I'd be kicking myself if I'd paid, and someone blabbed to me that they got theirs for free. Especially if I was thrilled with the plan I paid for.

Thanks for the great report. I had asked earlier if anybody could "tell" that you had free dining.

Also, this other comment was something I was preparing to ask about....I was looking at the menu for Liberty Inn where we plan to eat and noticed that it says "soft serve ice cream" for dessert. Well, with my slow eaters I know this would melt before they ever got to it if we got it with the rest of the meal. I've seen a few other people say that they just "showed their receipt" or something to get dessert later. Does anybody know how that might work at Liberty Inn or other CS places ?

Thanks again for the info and welcome home.

I totally agree, and I don't know if I would have thought about keeping this to myself. So thank you for the great suggestion, tinker-kyle! :) Amd thank you for the great report on the plan itself. I hope that we don't get overly stressed or stuffed from this doggoned thing! :)

Glad the dining plan worked great for your family, My family loved using the dining plan in May we saved $$$$$$! We also encountered no problems and staff was always very courteous, although we lucked out and had to pay for the dining plan, congrats to everyone that gets it as a freebee!!

mickey rice krispy treat we at the food court at CB ... baskets of them!

cassi ... free dining was a promotion that had to be booked by 8/20/05 for travel between 8/21 and 10/4 ... you got the disney dining plan which normally costs 35.99 per adult for free ... sorry!

kelly ... we have APs too - but you had to include at least one-day MYW tix to get free dining ... so we bought a one day base tix, but did not activate them. we will save them for a trip after our PAPs expire.

My sister made plans back in June for Sept and took the dining plan. No one at WDW told her about the free special. I saw it online in the beginning of August, told her about it. She called WDW reserv. and was able to get it and was thrilled that I told her about it. Saves her over $700!

Glad to hear you enjoyed your "free" dining.

Thanks for the updates!

Oh! What a bummer! We just decided last night/this morning we were going!
And we're going from 9-29 to 10-3 too!

MAAAAAN!

:(

So you can get Oatmeal instead of a danish as a side with the breakfast platter? Good news there because with all these desserts that is way too much sugar.

Can't wait to go- we booked it just because of the dining! Well- I wanted to go somewhere before returning to work and just happened to see the promotion! Glad you had a good time- so much for going back to work in my prepregnancy weight!
I should probably bring my maternity clothes to WDW! :rotfl:

Thanks fro the tips. We are going in Jan and are paying for the plan. Hope it gets offered for free, TA and WDW CM said we would be reinbursed if it is offered, but still think it is a great deal for us. Love to eat!

Tinker-Kyle do you know if you can save the kids meals (I plan on having my 2 kids share most meals) and use them as an adult meal later? There has been a lot of debate on this and I would just like to hear about this from someone who has recently traveled....TIA

My TA told me the same thing. Yes, it is a good deal and will save us money even with having to pay for the plan.... but getting it for free???? :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:
