Atlantis sub. excursion?

Can anyone let me know on the Atlantis deep explorer if they check the age of the child and why do they need to be 8yrs old. my son is 7 is we are really considering it. There is also an excursion in the Grand Cayman is that just as good. Everyone says we would not be disappointed but since there is so much more time in Coz. we would rather do the excursion on Coz. than Grand Cayman.
Any hints?

My family did this in Grand Cayman, but I also heard from others that it is really good in Cozumel. I woud recommend doing this if you can. I don't think my son was eight when we did this, so not sure about the age thing, but we booked on our own, and there was not a problem. I think he was six or seven at the time.
