Atlantis Question

We were thinking of going over to Atlantis on our Nassau day, and were wondering if there's any where in the resort that has something like a touch pool where you can hold a star fish or something? I've seen pictures of kids doing that but I'm not sure where I would need to buy access to when we get there. We are going to have a very little one with us and while I'd love to do the Dolphin Encounter or something I think they're too young for it.

If you don't do this in Atlantis (we never go as I find it outrageously expensive) they do have a sting ray encounter with touch tank like activities at Castaway Cay.

We have that booked already. We're just trying to find something to do in Nassau that could be fun for everyone, because he really wants to get off the boat. I on the other hand do not, I hated Nassau last time I was there. So I'm trying to find something we can all do with the little ones that's not crazy expensive and could be a lot of fun.

When our IT guy at my work found out we were going on a cruise next year, the first thing he told me was to try to get to Ardastra Gardens. I had never heard of it (although now I see it is an excursion available) so I looked into it after he left and I am definitely considering it (maybe privately though, not through a formal port adventure). You might want to look into that if you are already doing the sting rays at Castaway?

The admission fees seem reasonable?

There's a touch tank with starfish, sea urchins and other "water bugs" that I didn't want to touch... LOL

Atlantis is very nice and fun to visit at least once.

I can confirm Mevelandry's comment. In The Dig, there's a small interactive tank area. Its inside The Dig, so you'd have to buy a ticket, either the Discover Atlantis excursion, or at the resort itself.

There's also the Sea Squirts. I don't think this is offered as a DCL excursion, but I think you can book it if you call Atlantis directly. My kids did a version of it when they were younger (back then it was free activity for resort guests...they've amped it up a little since then).

It isn't very big but interesting depending on their age and we stopped for ice cream at Haagen Daz on the way back. It is in walking distance once you are off the pier area.

I'll look into this one as well. If you do it not through DCL, how are you planning to get there? Last time I was in Nassau it didn't seem very safe when we got off the ship but that was also over 10 years ago so things have probably/hopefully changed.

You have to buy admission to a Discover Atlantis tour. The tour is around $40.

You can pre-pay ahead of time, or walk up to the tour desk. In both cases, you'd ask to be taken to the Coral tower at Atlantis.

The actual Dig entrance is in between the Royal towers and the casino. This area, called the Great Hall of Waters, is not usually accessible to the general public.

You have to purchase admission to the Aquarium excursion to see it (It's called "Discover Atlantis").

Like GrnMtnMan said: Without paying for admission, there's not much you can see to be honest. The lobby and the casino, that's about it. They have "guardians" at the entrance and they are asking to see your bracelets.

My family went on the glass bottom boat excursion in Nassau. My mother really wanted to do it. I was surprised, it was actually pretty nice, a nice boat ride and there were a lot of fish. Half the boat feeds the fish and the other half go in the bottom and look at the fish. Feeding the fish to me seemed like a lot more fun. The captain gives you bread to feed the fish sometimes the fish jump out of the water.
