I've heard both brag to be longest/ highest/ fastest waterslide in U.S., North America, World? So which is the TOP DOG: Summit at Blizzard Beach or Leap at Atlantis?
I think that Summit Plummet is longest in the world. Or at least that is what I was told when I worked there a few summers ago. There is a slide in Aisa that is supposed to be longer, but only becasue they illegally added a longer landing at the bottom.
I have only done Summit twice and that was enough for me. People shoudln't go 0 to 60 like that!! This was me
Those two are not even close. If that's a 'leap of faith', you'd better not do the slide at Stormalong Bay at the Yacht Club, can't be much higher than it.
"Summit Plummet - At 120 feet high, it's the world's tallest, fastest free-fall speed slide, a breathtaking 60 mph plunge straight down to a splash."
"The Leap of Faith slide offers the daring and adventurous, a 60 ft. almost-vertical drop from the top of the Mayan Temple, propelling riders at a tremendous speed through a clear acrylic tunnel submerged in a shark-filled lagoon."
Exactly Horace, as I said, not even close, one's at least half the height of the other.
And I'd be willing to bet Atlantis is using linear feet not vertical. And it does not stay 'near vertical' for any real length of time, people were barely making it out the end of the tunnel. Which, by the way does not end in a pool, it ends in something not much bigger than a bathtub which you have to get out of the way immediatly or get run over.
The height difference between 60 and 120 feet is enormous. THe height and speed difference between Summit Plummet (120) and Humunga Kowabunga (about 60) (Typhoon Lagoon). Grandmas can do Humunga Kowabunga and only crazy people (teenagers and me and DW) will do Summit Plummet (we will only do it once per trip)
