My dh and I really wanted to experience Atlantis to see if we would like to return for a vacation there. However the Disney excursions are very limiting and allow little acces to the facility. We are considering booking a room at the Comfort Inn next door for one night which gives full access to the Atlantis pools, beaches and facilities. The price is actually just a little more than the price of the excursion. Has Anyone else tried this?

Yes, I've actually done this twice. Once at the Comfort Suites, and once at Atlantis when the Comfort Suites was booked. You can usually just show up at Atlantis that day and ask for a day room. The cost was around 200.00.

The Comfort Suites is a short walk over to Atlantis. As soon as you get there, grab your self a chair. They go quickly. You'll have full access to the resort all day. You can charge meals, beverages and merchandise right to you Comfort Suites card. You will also be able to get towels using your Comfort Suites card. It's definitely the better solution.

If you need further info, please ask.

How did you get from the ship to the Comfort Suites and what did that cost? Thanks!

Taxi will pick you up about at the end of the dock, drop you right there, 4$ pp each way.

I called the Comfort Inn and although the check-in is at 3pm the hotel will allow you to go to the Atlantis as soon as you arrive. The price in August was $190.00.

Either. However, the ferry is a very overcrowded ride and will drop you a number of blocks away from the resorts.

And that isn't much by itself, but one point that can't be emphasized enough, Atlantis is very sprawling. After an afternoon spent there, a hike to the ferry isn't going to look all that great.

Yes, you have access to all of the pools, slides and beaches. The same if you were staying there.

My df and I just got back from the cruise. We booked a room at the Comfort suites. It worked great. The staff obviously knew why we had booked it. (Perhaps 4 people checking in with one little carry-on was a giveaway!) They put us in a room right next to the door that led out the the Atlantis. We walked across the street and we were at the Atlantis--it couldn't be easier. We had a terrific time in the pools, water slides and lazy river. We ate lunch in the resort (credit card or Atlantis room card only-no cash). And best of all, we had a nice air conditioned room to go back to to shower and rest before heading back to the ship. I can't say enough about that. The showers onboard are small, so it was nice to take a good hot shower again. The other people onboard who did the Disney Atlantis excursion were not able to use the pools, only the beach. And they didn't get a shower until they taxied back to the boat still hot and sand covered!!!! I really recommend doing the Altantis this way.

We have also booked a "Day room". We went to Atlantis and got a day room for about $190.00 . We had 4 people in our group so it was cheaper than the Atlantis excursion. We packed a few snacks with us and canned drinks. We put our stuff in the room then enjoyed a day of pools and slides. We went back to our room and showered and ate the lunch I had packed. We then went to the casino and won about $200.00, enough to pay for our room. We really had a great time and would do it again.

We too had a great day at Atlantis by booking a room at the Comfort. It was fabulous! The only thing that was disappointing was the beach. It was not really inviting. Surf was to rough to get in. No beach chairs set up. We would have waited to have the beach guy get us one (none left with the shades in the hot sun!) And, he expected a big tip. Definately NOT Castaway Cay!!!

I do not know if this is still the case. But, when we went we found a really good rate for our room at the Comfort. We found this at placestostay.com. (thanks to a tip from this board!) I proceeded as if I were indeed booking a room, and it pulled up promotional rates that I have not seen anywhere else! Then, I wanted to book directly through Comfort, so I called the Comfort 1-800 number and requested the promotional rate that I had seen. They gave me that rate with a smile, no problem.

For a family or group of 4 people, a room at the Comfort should be cheaper than booking an excursion. This IS the way to visit Atlantis.

Enjoy!

Hi,

Thanks for the great info on booking a room at Comfort Suites to be able to use the Atlantis facilities, including the waterslides!

Now if only we could find a couple to split the room with to save money!

My husband and I booked through http://smarterliving.com/ and found the best price there.

Happy cruising!
