Atlanta: should we drive through or around??

Any from Atlanta out here??? I need your help


We are driving to WDW from OH. We're going to go down I-75, but I don't know what to do when we hit Atlanta.

I have heard so many stories about the horrible traffic all around.

We should be getting there between 1-2pm and I was wondering if we should take the loop, or go straight through?

Well, if you're going this week you ought to drive thru Atlanta...that's where Dan Murphy's gonna be!

Drive through. Downtown traffic won't be too horrible then and honestly, sometimes I-285 is even WORSE than I-75 traffic.

We drove down over Labor Day weekend. Our timing stunk as we hit Atlanta at the tail end of morning rush hour! We had pretty good luck though...we drove straight through and it was slow going for just a few miles. We got into the carpool lane and kept on truckin'!

Day after Thanksgiving shouldn't be too bad-- just avoid surface streets and malls.

Definitely drive through.

Drive straight through and take the HOV lane. As long as you have 2 people in a vehicle you can use this lane. They are both on I-85 and I-75. Day after thanksgiving you may hit some traffic around the mall exits of the expressways. Just stay as far to the fast lane if no HOV lane as possible and you will be ok. WSB radio AM7:50 will be having traffic reports that day and there are overhead signs as well to inform you of any accidents and delays.

Yep, that time of day you should be just fine. The skyline is really pretty (to me at least). I'd drive straight through. Now if you're hitting it at 5 pm...I'd go by way of a different state.

Yeah, between 1-2 will be fine. Take the HOV advice and jump in that lane. There are numerous signs on 75 alerting you of potential traffic delays. Just know that 285 is an alternate should something happen on 75.
