Aaaaand they're off! The four TV stations are going CRAZY with snow predictions. Delta is already cancelling flights for MONDAY. A few minutes ago I saw that they have updated their prediction from "a little bit of snow" to a possibility of 4-6". Considering that we don't get much snow, usually only an inch or so at a time, this is BIG NEWS.

ETA: This great big snow fall is predicted for Sunday night. You read that right. Sunday night. This is Friday night. We have 48 hours to acquire our milk, bread, frozen lasagna, firewood, beer, and DVDs. Get crackin'.

Actually, we normally keep enough stuff in the house that we don't have to participate in the "bread and milk frenzy" but this week has been crazy and I haven't been to the store at all. We're down to our last gallon of milk. (we normally keep 3-4 in the fridge, as we go through about a gallon a day. Usually I go for more when we are "down" to two. I didn't have time yesterday).

I told DH to get FIVE - lol. He said he's hoping they have some left.

What's really sad is that I was supposed to be off work Monday, but I took pity on a co-worker who is a huge Auburn fan, and I'm working for him Monday night. If there's 8-10 inches of snow and ice on Monday, I'm not going to be happy. (don't worry - I won't be mad at my co-worker. It's not his fault. Plus he traded me for Sunday, so I think he's got the worst end of the deal).

Here's hoping they're wrong!

We are going to go get some provisions tomorrow... just in case. Our driveway is kind of steep so if there's ice, we could be stuck for a while. I am more concerned about power loss, so I'm trying to think of a few things that don't require a fridge/freezer (luckily we have a gas stove so we should still be able to cook!)

Remember that if it's cold enough to be iced over, if you lose power then you can just put your frozen stuff outside and it will be okay.

That reminds me. I need to get salt for the driveway. Every time it freezes the SLIGHTEST bit, my driveway turns into a solid sheet of ice.

Stupid me had to go to Kroger to get my uncle's medicine and was SHOCKED at the crowds. The cashier said "someone HAD to mention that dirty word.." What dirty word, I stupidly ask? SNOW!



The latest 5 day forecast on weather.com has the snow coming Monday. Whatev...

Ok, I will say that 6" of snow can cause some major issues, especially in areas without snowplows. Crazy weather you are having in the south this year! Enjoy the snow from the safety of your homes.

I can pretty much be certain we will have no power, we have so many trees in my neighborhood whenever we have ice it goes. I need to get some starters for my fireplace tomorrow, sand for the back stairs so the dogs can get out to use the facilities and not break a leg.

The local weather said there will be NO commute on Monday.

I'm in SC and they're crazy here to! My husband did his usual Fri night grocery store run and couldn't understand why it was so crazy. He works construction and hadn't heard a weather report all day. The stupid thing is they're predicting snow for the NC mountains, about 2+ hours from here, for tonight. NOTHING but rain for us and it's still a stampede for the dairy and bread aisles Now Mon. afternoon they're saying the S word for us, but haven't predicted any totals yet. The way things are going tonight there won't be anything left for the Sun. panic crowd

I have bread in the freeze already. I am going to the store for milk tomorrow and snacks. MOM is not taking it seriously but I know she does not taking nothing seriously until that day. Mom thinks be nothing at all. She will be the one talking snow like crazy and she has go work. Me and kids is at home in the bed.

Christmas snow was surprise.

6+ inches here time to shut down the city. We will not away where for next 5 days.

I know everyone makes fun of people that make shopping trips when bad weather hits but our last big storm I was out of coffee creamer . Not a good thing.

Seriously, I remember several years ago we had a sales awards banquet in Orlando. It was just after a HUGE snowstorm hit New Jersey (1996 I think was the year). One of the salesmen lived in NJ and they were snowed in their house for 5 days. They had some overnight guests the day the snow storm hit and they ended up staying for almost a week. By the end of that week they had no bread, no milk, very little left to eat at all actually. They were eating dry cereal, etc.

We use our outside "freezer" all winter long Just be careful with cans of pop (soda). . Growing up we had an unheated, enclosed porch off our kitchen and we kept all kinds of food/beverages in that porch all winter. I specifically remember my mom keeping left over turkey from Thanksgiving on the porch.

Today was grocery day for us, but now I'm thinking I shold have bought an extra gallon of milk. My DD is supposed to return to Oxford on Monday so that she can go to Continuee Day at Emory on Tuesday. She's flipping out because I've told her there's a good chance the roads will not be safe.

I think I saw on the news last year that liquor stores also get swamped the day before a major snow is called for. I know I'll be hitting one tomorrow!

We are supposed to get Icy Rain down here in Central South Georgia on Monday. We will make our usual shopping trip tomorrow and hope there are still supplies left on the shelves.

We survived both the Snowpocalypse and Snowmageddon last year in MD where we got 5 feet of snow in a week but somehow just the hint of a tad bit of icy rain down here in the Deep South seems much worse - probably because the highway departments down here don't have the equipment to deal with it.

We had several feet of snow on our deck in Maryland and needed the room in the freezer so we tossed several things out into the snow until we had room to put them back in the freezer.
