Atlanta, have you made your milk & bread run?

The weatherman here already calling for no school and work for Monday. Can say panic. I think just going to the store and get snacks tomorrow.

Pray God does not be Super storm 1993 again. I remember that we did not have school for two weeks.

I got feeling the kids be out another week.

I got enough containers to fill up if need it.

Well, I survived WalMart at 1am. :hippie:

I often go to WalMart after work as there is no one in there then but me and lots of guys stocking shelves. But not tonight. Wow, I couldn't believe how many people were in there. And the milk was almost gone, but I got what I needed! Weather or not, we shouldn't need to go back to the store until midweek next week.

TWO WEEKS :scared1: Maybe I will rent a snow plow and drive down if it takes that long to dig people out, it could be a big money maker :lmao:

Hope y'all have it cleaned up by Thusday! DH has a trade show there thur-sun and DD8 and I are tagging along. Would be weird to go south and have more snow than in Ohio! :rotfl: but more importantly, be safe!

All I can say is... thank goodness the Falcons have a bye!!!

Ummm, it's bright and sunny here in Buffalo.

In all seriousness, I hope the storm isn't that bad for you guys. It is humorous reading this thread since I have relatives in the South and I know they get super concerned over a dusting. We are just north of the Mason-Dixon and 4-6 inches is a regular occurance.

Of course my Canadian friends laugh at us all the time, snow is like rain to them.

Gotta love the insanity snow causes in Tennessee. Luckily, we don't seem to be caught up in the craziness and our weather people have been pretty spot on with things. It's supposed to snow today a bit more and then end tonight and be sunny (but cold) tomorrow. I am more worried about the snow forecast for Monday and Tuesday. Hopefully tomorrow I can get out and do my weekly shopping before the church goers!

I did go pick up a few things yesterday because we would run out. Needed milk and dog food mostly.

My son and I decided (well I did lol) to hit Walmart early this morning, to do our bread/milk run. Luckily the crowds had not hit yet. Maybe they were getting their beauty sleep. rofl!
Not sure how much we might get, but I know we got plenty back in '93, so I hope we don't get that much again! :( I'm just hoping the bad weather line will stop at Montgomery like it usually does. Since we are in a valley of sorts the snow often misses us. That wouldn't hurt my feelings any! ;)
At least we didn't hit the long lines at Walmart. :)

stay safe everyone, Chicago is cold and uneventful, I am sure our weather people woud LOVE juicy storm to give them something to do....maybe we can send some assistance to you!

I'm going to make a milk run because I'm almost out. I'm not too worried. I'm more metro south though and if we get it, it will not be the 4-6 they say it will. We should have gotten 3 last time and got about 1.5. If I was more north I would be worried.

DH just came back from picking up some firewood starter at ACE, he said it is insanity out there. The grocery store is packed, roads packed. At ACE the sleds were flying out of the store, one guy bought 25!!!!!!! He said they are going to have a street sled party.

I'm originally for NW Indiana by Lake Michigan but I've been in Atlanta for 30 years. I always laugh at people making the Bread run since we're never snowed in for more than a couple of days. I will however, make a run for some extra goodies this afternoon.

The snow does not scare me it is the inevitable power outage we will have for days. That and the trees and branches falling, you can start to hear the crack and boom. We are lucky in Atlanta to have so many beautiful trees. Problem is with all the development we have seen in the last 20 years the extensive root systems have been disturbed, the tree might appear healthy but a good ice storm and boom. There goes your garage or worse.

In Dec 08 we had 3' of snow, which in South Louisiana is huge. We lost power for 48 hours ... longest 48 hours of my life lol. I have lived through many hurricanes and gone with out power up to 9 days after Gustav, without a generator. Wasn't fun, but we managed. The winter outage convinced us to buy a generator. I never want to sleep and bath in a cold house again!!! At least in the heat you can wear very few clothes, but after playing in the snow for a few hours , every towel in the house was wet and all the warm clothes we had were soaked . As soon as we started to wash and dry it all a tree fell on the lines and bam we had very little warm clothes left to wear.

We might get snow tomorrow in north Texas. Am I supposed to be shopping? It hadn't even occurred to me but people get crazy when it snows around here too.

We have talked about getting a generator, a few people in our neighborhood do. The first time I saw this one house with power and the rest of the area was pitch black, I thought does Bewitch live there, j/k:lmao: But seriously they are great to have, if we were in your neck of the woods I definitley would. This might sound a tad morbid but, we use to have an elderly woman on our street who was on all types health related equipment in her home. Our street would always get our power back up first because of this lady. Sadly she has passed.

We do have lots of firewood, of course my dh's truck is in the shop as of yesterday so we have no 4x4. We will be housebound when the ice hits. I have all the blankets out and candles. We'll be fine, if I could talk him into a last minute trip to Disney even better but, that is not happening;)

Do you mean three inches or three feet?:rotfl:

I think our heat is out . Just great we freeze our butts off now. All have is a wall heater that has never been use before. One space heater to heat the whole house. Sent the kids to my cousins for the week.
