Doesn't work.
Lactaid just makes the lactose easier to digest... NOT what we want. Means the sugars are getting digested faster, and entering your bloodstream faster. Your best bet if you can't stay away from it, is whole milk... at around 13 carbs per 8 oz.
Try the cream and water. Or look for the new LeCarb Dairy drink (supposed to be just like milk). Or try an unsweetened/Splenda sweetened soy milk.

Birgit's Not-Milk

For you milk lovers out there ...
Not-Milk
Makes just over 1 cup
Ingredients:
1 tbsp CMF unflavored whey protein isolate (isolate, not protein powder)
1 tbsp buttermilk powder
1/8 tsp splenda (or equivalent)
2 tbsp whipping cream (or half and half)
1 cup water
Preparation:
Mix dry ingredients and whisk vigorously into the water until everything is dissolved. Chill and use like regular milk.
* The taste turns out most like milk with the above ingredients. Substituting different ingredients may yield different result!
To me this tastes just like regular Milk when chilled. Granted I haven't tasted milk in over 2 years though - but it's probably as close as it's going to get and a whole lot better than the LC milk preparations that are on the market ! (not to mention cheaper!)
I have found that I get the best "real milk" taste with the CFM whey protein isolate from the proteinfactory.com but you may well find a local substitution that works for you YMMV
