We will be flying Southwest several times over the next two months; it will be my first experience to them, and I am not looking forward to the "cattle call." But oh well, at least they'll get you to Orlando!

Hey Barb~
we fly Southwest a lot from PVD to MCO and have never had a big problem. I print out the boarding passes and hope for an A boarding pass ~usually get it. When we get to the gate, we get in line immediately, usually sit on the floor and read our books. Sometimes there's no one in front of us, sometimes just a few people. My daughter and I take turns "stretching" and taking a walk while the other saves "our space"

Depending on how full the flight is, depends on how close to the front of the plane you get. or if you even want to get a seat towards the front..

Yes, they do preboard wheelchair passengers and families with children under 4 first,,, but they're cracking down on the families that bring along their 10 aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc from preboarding with the one child under 4. That doesn't mean that the preboarding family won't "save" a bunch of seats... but I believe Southwest only allows them to "save" 2 seats when they get on board.

have fun~
