ATA and DCL cruise question

I'm thinking about cancelling my SW flight back home from the cruise and going with ATA instead. It is about $70 cheaper per person, but I know we will have to pay bag fees. I would fly SW down, and fly ATA back so only paying bag fees once.

Anyway, question is: if I fly ATA back, will I be able to drop my bags off and then not have to pick them up again until I return home? I know if I fly SW I will have to handle my bags until getting to MCO, so this would be a huge advantage.

thanks much!!

Actually, with one exception (either OKW or CBR), with Southwest you would be able to use RAC and check your luggage through to your home airport. With ATA, I don't think so. Look at the threads at the top of this forum. Click on the one labeled closest to "What Participating Airline Really Means". That thread - one of the first few posts - should tell you which airlines participate in Resort Airline Check-in.

People used to talk nicely about ATA airlines...........

Yeah Duds...that would NOT be me talking nicely about them...different story...I digress...

OP, since you're on the Disney Cruise line and not staying at a resort hotel, you're gonna have to schlep your bags yourself.

However, the OP can call DCL and confirm, it has been posted that SWA is now a participating airline in onboard checking on DCL. Meaning, you can check your bags with DCL, DCL will print your boarding pass and get your luggage to the airport. However, you do have to purchase DCL transportation ($35 per person) from the port to the airport in order to use it.
