At what point, can we in the Northeast conclude that this summer is a washout?

It's already July 15th. We're about halfway through summer and so far, it's been really crummy. I keep hearing "but summer isn't over yet". OK, so if we get 2 weeks of summer weather in August, does that make it a great summer?

Or can we now label the Summer of 2004 a wipeout?;)

Wow...here in NJ, every weekend since Memorial Day has been sunny and beautiful. This past week it's rained every day (M-TH) but at least the weekends have been gorgeous.

Remeber the summer of 1999?
90+ days every day
i working in the dark (we had the choice of AC or lights - we took the AC)

ahh...THAT'S the kind of summer I want!

I think I can count on one hand the number of days that the pool has even been a consideration. And one of them was the day it was being installed.

If we get a good day, it's followed by several rotten ones. Today being one of the worst so far. Feels like late October.

i suppose i'm midatlantic, not northeast, but our summer here has been pretty standard.

you know what pissed me off this morning was seeing the weather map and EVERYONE in the US was having 90-100 temps except from NY upward was 60-70...

WHAT GIVES???

iT IS A WASHOUT FOR ME....

We are on our way to south Jersey shore in 9 days...I am SURE the cold, wet, damp weather will follow so whach out Stathmere!!!

GG, you sound like my DH. LOL. It's not THAT bad. The weekends have been great! And I don't like it in the 90's anyway. (But I agree that this week has been really bad.)

This is from Fourth of July weekend when we were camping at Lake Placid. No rain Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday! Now come on, aren't all those taxes worth it to live in a state with this kind of beauty. ;)

I think the south has gotten a lot more rain than us. I'd rather have some clouds and 71 degrees than rain, humidity and 92 degrees. ::yes::

Well I"m enjoying the weather this summer. We've been having a lot of late afternoon rain showers. I guess since I"m not a big beach person, it doesn't bother me. It's been mostly cool and not sticky, hot, humid. I have no complaints. The flowers and lawn look beautiful. I prefer rain over drought any time.

We are leaving soon for a long weekend at the ocean...so hard to get motivated to finish packing while I am sitting here in long pants... Saturday is supposed to be nice so we hope to get a day by the water instead of having to find all indoor things to do - along with everyone else on vacation!

I had on a long sleeve shirt and jeans yesterday. Today is a sweatshirt and jeans. I've been in the pool at home twice this summer, and swam twice last week in the Berkshires. Yeah the summer is only half over, but weather wise it's a washout. But then again, that's partly because we're still drying out a flooded basement, with the promise of more rain in the future, and i need my 4 wheel drive engaged to go up dad's driveway, because the mud is so deep, and there's a crater in it where it was washed away. Thank goodness I drive an SUV and not a little car, or else I'd never make it up. I'm headed to northern NH tomorrow and am considering packing my parka and mittens.

And this was Memorial weekend on Lake Ontario...

Sorry GG, but to me any day where I can wear shorts is a good day. Any day that doesn't involve shoveling snow or scraping ice of my windshield is a perfect day.

I'm so sick of winters here, that I'll gladly take this weather over that. If I can escape southward (cough...Orlando...cough) that would be perfect.

We had some 80's days recently, just today it's a little nippy.

We've had so much rain. Unfortunately a few parts of PA had bad tornadoes too. So hopefully the weather won't be as dramatic for the rest of the summer.:D

Believe me, if I could send you all a few degrees of our weather, I would do so in a heartbeat :teeth:

I have loved my first summer here in the mountains of PA, it's been incredible. No humidity, lots of sunny days, sure we've had rain but the gorgeous days far out weigh them, it's really been beautiful.

I don't think I could ever go back to the super humidity again, I've worn shorts every day this summer, gone to the waterpark all with out that extreme sticky heat, I don't miss it one bit! :)

I have decided I HATE the weather in Massachusetts. :) That's because I love the heat-so does DH. We only get July and August here to wear tank tops, swim, go to the beach, etc.. So yes it has been a washout for us this month. I had to wear a coat yesterday. 4th of July weekend was beautiful but still a bit cool for me. I like 90's. One of the reasons we are moving to Florida ASAP.

Gotta disagree with you on this one. I think this is actually one of the nicest summers we've had. Sure, we haven't had a lot of those 90+ degree days w/humidity, but I HATE those days anyway. This week we've had a lot of rain, but other than that, I think the weather's been beautiful.

It's only July 15th--I feel like summer is just beginning (kinda;) )

I think this summer has been great!!:sunny:

Sure it hasn't been in the mid 90's but that is okay fine with me!!! Blue skies, sunny most every day and high 70's low 80's.

Perfect:boat: :flower1:
