My twins are 20 months and they are obsessed with Sesame Street but have zero interest in anything Disney. They know Winnie the Pooh and Friends but they don't know any other characters, and they have much greater interest in Sesame. We are planning a trip to Disney and they will be 2.5yo when we go and I am soooo excited, but I am worried they won't be. I am hoping by that time they will know most of the Disney characters and have interest in them. But since they are my first children I am not really able to predict what they will be like 10 mos from now. At what age did your kids start liking Disney stuff?

They are also terrified of rides at this point, so I am hoping they will grow out of that before trip time as well...

My children have loved Disney characters since they were probably 18 months (maybe less?). The Disney Junior shows are great and then they loved the live stage show at Hollywood Studios where they can see all those characters. There is also the breakfast with Little Einsteins, Handy Manny & Special Agent Oso at Hollywood & Vine (in HStudios). Of course if they start watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse that would be great :)

I don't think you need to worry too much about them being scared of rides.. there are gentle ones they would enjoy (especially Winnie the Pooh!). Hope you have a great vacation - the first trip is so special!!

They are afraid of elevators lol. They are afraid of everything...my little chickens.

I always try to put Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on for them all the time, and other things too, but all they want to see is Sesame

My son was probably a little older than your twins when he started paying attention to Disney. He was a Sesame addict first too. Now he watches all kinds of shows on Disney Junior and loves them. I would just keep trying. It's been easier with my daughter since my son is always on Disney Channel.

DD practically came from the womb loving Mickey!:rotfl:

Seriously though, the girl was one of those terrors of a newborn... not her fault, of course, she had awful colic & reflux. But I distinctly recall the first time I was able to sit and eat a warm meal w/o hearing a screaming child. She was 4 months old & I found Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and put her in her bouncy seat and she was in LOVE! I even video-taped her watching it because the minute Mickey walked over the hill in the very beginning, her face just lit up & she bust out in giggles.

I'd say though that she REALLY started getting into everything Disney right around 22-24 months. I got free tickets to Disney on Ice and she was absolutely fascinated with it. She's been obsessed with the Princesses ever since.

She's slow on her speech development but out of the handful of words that she does say, Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy & Donald are part of them.

Our DS is 2 1/2 right now - and LOVES LOVES LOVES Toy Story and all the characters. About 4 months ago I thought he was becoming interested in CARS as he received a small CARS lego set, but then he saw Woody & Buzz and they are all that exists. I hope they are still favorites when we go back in the fall.

Last April we were also at Disney, and at that time he was all about Tigger & Pooh - we have some great photos.

As far as Sesame Street, my specials needs older son is an Elmo fan, so they are in the house too - but the Disney characters quickly took over.

No matter who your twins "love" at that point, they will almost certainly be interested in characters. Maybe plan a character breakfast so they have a little extra time with a few - Crystal Palace is one of our favorites.

Have fun!

My daughter (just turned 2yo) used to watch a little bit of Sesame Street but once we found Mickey Mouse Clubhouse that was it for her. Are you able to slowly introduce more Disney programming and less SS just to get her familiar with the characters?

I also love the educational components of MMC. Totally impressed!!

Oh thank you so much everyone! This really gives me hope :lovestruc Im just so excited I can barely contain myself and I want so badly for them to love this trip. I really hope they come around and turn into big Disney fans like me :mickeyjum Thanks again!

My DD7 has always loved Disney, DD2 took a lot longer to come around. She would watch Super Slueths on Disney so she knew Pooh and friends when she went to Disney at 15 months. She had not much interest in the characters unless I was holding her. If I put her down she wanted nothing to do with them. If I was holding her then she would touch them and smile. However then we were at the Crytal Palace for breakfast and she went nuts. She actually pulled on Tiggers leg to get his attention as he wasn't paying her any attention (granted that was because he didn't see her as she was so little). Still she didn't get the Disney bug until the week Toy Story 3 came out so it would have been probably a month or so before her 2nd birthday. She never watched any program for more than 10 mins before she was bored and suddenly Toy Story 1 came on the Disney channel and I just left it on for some reason and she just stood there in front of the tv for over and hour without moving....I couldn't believe it. She was hooked from that day forward with Toy Story and now pretty much all things Disney. When she went to Disney at 25 months she loved ALL the characters and especially Woody and Jessie. She is huge into Jake and the Neverland Pirates and walks around saying Yo Ho now...lol. I keep joking that instead of a princess dress I'll be buying her a pirate outfit at Disney this year....
Don't worry there is still time for the Disney bug to hit your little ones!

My kids have all been different, my last dd is the only one to really LOVE disney! She stands at the window, bottom of the stairs, anywhere and calls Mickey and Minnie :) However, they've all LOVED the characters at the parks, my DS went when he was 2.5 and he had no interest in Disney shows, the first thing he did was walk up and hug Pluto when we got there :)

My youngest DD is 21 months. She's been totally into Mickey (calls him "Mimi") for 5 or 6 months now.

She also reaaaaalllly loves Toy Story 3, but I think that's mostly since her big sister loves it.

My oldest two kids were really into Sesame Street too. At about 18 mos, they started becoming more interested in Disney characters. My youngest was born when my older two were 7 & 5. He liked Sesame for about a minute and then moved on to Disney characters. I'm sure this was because of him having older siblings though.

DD loves everything Disney. We went to Disney World when she was 10 months and I swear ever since then she started liking Mickey. She now loves Mickey Mouse clubhouse, she likes Pooh and she is also into the princesses already. I'm sure they will love it there even if they aren't into the characters yet. Keep trying with Disney shows, also having some character stuffed animals will help them get familiar with Mickey etc.

My daughter is two and a half. She liked Winnie the Pooh from about nine months, but she's just started showing interest in other Disney movies and characters in the last four or five months. She is a big fan of Playhouse Disney. She also really likes Ariel and Belle.

This is my dd too. She love MMCH. She has been watching it since she was 2 months old. At 2 months she just smiled when she heard the theme song. At 7 months, she claps when the theme song comes on and watches most of the show.

DD had colic also and the only thing that would sooth her was the CARS movie, pop it in and she would be alseep in minutes, same with DS now it's all they watch in the morning
DD is 3 and DS is 18m, both LOVE mickey mouse and Clap when ever he's on or they see him.

I Would say since BRITH! LOL

DD started to enjoy Disney shows and movies between 18 & 24 months. Now at just over 3 yrs she's obsessed. She asks to watch a movie every day! Tonight she and DH are watching Aladdin (again).
We took her to WDW for the first time at 12 months. Even though she wasn't too familiar with the characters she still loved the rides and character interaction. We had such a good experience at WDW with her that we went again just shy of 2 yrs and one more time at 2.5. We are planning our 4th trip this June!
Enjoy your trip. I'm sure your kids will LOVE it!

My twins are 21 months and love Mickey's clubhouse, Their third word was disney. We planned a trip when they were 18 months and loved it the loved the characters, but didn't care for princess we had not showed them the movies. Best thing we did was get really excited when a disney show came on and they followed our lead. Our twins are obbessed with seasme street so we are going to busch gardens and having breakfast with elmo yay!

We did not have cable/Fios/satellite when my DS was born, just network TV. So all we really had available was Thomas the Tank Engine and Barney or whatever we put in the VCR. (can you tell this was a few years ago :lmao:) He did not like Barney so that really left Thomas and my collection of Disney movies. He rotated among his favorites, Winnie the Pooh, Dalmatians, Peter Pan and Jungle Book. He was a lover by age 2. By the time he was 3 we did have cable and that opened a whole new world with Nick Jr (Blues Clues, Franklin, Little Bear etc). DD was born into the good fortune of everything available to her, but I would put on a Disney movie a couple of times a week, instead of TV. Her favorite rotation was Dalmatians, Lady and the Tramp, PeterPan and Bambi. Of course Winnie the Pooh was a regular feature as well (my favorite :)). By the time DD was 3yrs old Aristocrats and Little Mermaid ranked up there as well. She also loved the sequel to PeterPan. She was 4yrs old before she appreciated Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast and Sleeping Beauty. Then she was all about the princesses. princess:
