We are looking for a good viewing spot for illuminations tonight... Problem is we only have a gorrilapod with us (I'm hoping that is what those little tripod looking doodads are called... )

With only a gorillapod, I would definitely suggest something close to the water where the rails are. When I shot in 2008 I was looking across the lake at the American Pavillion in the center and had some nice pictures (I thought.) You can look at my smugmug site below and go to the Disney > 2008 > Illuminations pictures to see if you like it. I liked shooting there, but I'm sure there are others in the world showcase just as good. Get there early, because people tend to camp out!
Walk up the steps to the Canada pavilion and go all the way to your left. There are some prop crates that are great for a small tripod with an unobstructed view of the lagoon. Even better, no one can get in front of you!
I also was going to say Canada up the stairs. There are stone "railings" that will give a good spot to set up the gorilla pod.
In front of France is a stone wall also but it's tilted I think. You might be able to set up a gorilla pod on it though. It gives a nice, different view as the island will be between you and the fireworks. It won't give a great view of the globe.

I got some great shots from this location last year. It worked out great after they cleaned up the vomit that someone left next to the trash can. The other suggestion I have is to be sure to check the wind direction before you choose your spot. Don't want all the smoke from the fireworks messing up your photos.
My take on this. Do your homework in advance. Watch the torches surrounding world showcase. Check the way the flames are heading and always stand the opposite way of the flame. When the fireworks start, the smoke will head downwind and towards you blocking future clear shots.
We love Norway but alas, its up to you and the wind.
I just shot it tonight and was very happy with the location... it was pretty close to Norway, just past China. I was able to get a nice unobstructed view.
