This last week has been pretty busy. We are here into next week, hopefully it gets better...

Anybody know why this week is busy? I know LotusSphere is here as well as a large Veterinary Conference...but still seems excessively busy.

How bad are the crowds?

Summer level or worse?

We'll be there in 10 days & I'm worried.

Have a good trip.

I have not been here in the summer for awhile, so not sure I can compare. But during EMH last night, there were still wait times of 40 minutes on Soarin and 80 minutes on Mission Space, 45 minutes on Test Track.

Even the kids rides were busy. We had waits up to 30 minutes to get on Dumbo, 40 to 50 minutes to get on Peter Pan.

Oh well, can't let the crowds get you down...still great to be here!

Dr. Martin Luther King Day is a huge school holiday around the country. Some districts even increase the time off with school inservice days. So, TONS of families chose that week to take off and go to Disney.

The crowds will lessen after this weekend as everyone returns to reality.

I hope the crowd lessen after this weekend, I will be down there tomorrow!!!

We're leaving tomorrow too and I'm worried about the crowds. But either way - we're still going to have fun!!! :thumbsup2

My friend is down for a gymnastics competition at the Wide World of Sports. They will be there till Thursday.

Yes, it's the MLK crowds. We were at the Disney parks last Monday-Friday the 14th-15th. Monday, Tues., Wed.,and Thursday were DEAD! Test Track had 10 minute waits at 3pm!

Then Friday comes along and BAM!!! Busy, busy, busy! We ended up leaving the park in the early afternoon because you couldn't even walk around and all the rides had huge waits:guilty:

I wouldn't worry. They should be gone by Monday when kids have to go back to school and the holiday is over.

My bil called last night while wating in line for Test Track--60 min wait (and phone conversation). They thought they were going to miss their ADR at Le Cellier! MLK day did make it really busy this year, I think.

How are the crowds today? How long have the waits been? Thanks for any info.

Unfortunately no improvement. MK was very busy today, wait times of up to 60 minutes at POTC, HM, PP, etc. Lots of people walking around, very crowded. Not the January crowds I am used to.

MLK Jr. Day was Monday, January 21st

What are those people still doing there? Go home. ;) :worship:

I want to come to Disney & find smaller crowds next week. :worship:

Bad news...to me is seemed EVEN busier today. Epcot had way more people tonight for illuminations than last night. The wait for Ariel was about 40 minutes, Dumbo about 30 to 40 minutes. Test Track this morning was at 70 minutes. Crazy...

We were there last TUES (JAN 22) through yesterday (JAN 28), and found it to be way more crowded than we are used to as well. We generally go the first week of FEB. I expected weekends to be a bit crowded, but was really surprised by the weekday lines of people. Wait times during EMH at EPCOT were crazy on FRI night! We still enjoyed ourselves, but we missed the quiet and ease of our past trips.

I'm going to be so bummed if it's packed Feb. 6-10.

I wanted this to be a quieter time to take my Mom (almost 80)

What kind of clothes are you guys wearing down there.

Shorts or Capris for ladies or long pants during the day???

I know we'll want long pants for the evenings w/ jackets or sweatshirts possibly

It will be better than here where in Chicago the temperature dropped 40 degrees in one day & we had windchills / gusts this am that took it to 15-30 below.

Florida here I come.

The weather was just starting to turn a lot nicer on Wednesday. I was wearing shorts and my wife was wearing capris. I'm from Calgary, Canada so at night, I was still wearing shorts :-) but most people were wearing long pants.

I just got back yesterday. This past week was not bad. There were some crowds but we never waited longer than 20 minutes for the big rides and we walked into most others. We got to do everything we wanted and some up to three times!!! Love those roller coasters! I don't think you have anything to worry about this coming week.

I bet that the Mardi Gras holidays down south are helping with the crowds. Most schools in my area go back to school on Thursday. Maybe you'll get some relief from those folks going back to AL., MS., and LA. Have fun!:confused3

We just spent a week at WDW (1/27 - 2/3) and also noticed the parks were much busier than we experienced during the same time period for the past 2 years. My wife happened to talk with a couple who had just transferred from POP to CSR (where we were staying), and they indicated that they requested the move because of the huge numbers of people staying at POP. I guess the WDW transporation wasn't prepared for these larger crowds this time of year, so the busing situation wasn't very good at the value resorts.

They said the increase in people is due to South American tourists visiting WDW in large numbers due to a favorable exchange rate of their currency against the US dollar. That explained all of the Spanish we heard as we traveled through the parks. I swear I heard more people speaking Spanish than English. We had a great time as always, but we did have to wait in lines a bit longer than usual for this time of year. I wonder if these crowd levels will be the norm for the coming years during this time period? Of course, the crowds were probably still lower than during peak season, but still there were more people than usual for an off-peak time period. :)

We leave in one week - I had no probems getting some ADRs when I called a few days ago...hopefully that means that it won't be too crowded :) But then again, it will be President's Weekend!

And I have NO clue what kind of clothes to pack!
