Well, we're at the Fort now for our first time and love it! All the bus waiting stuff gets a bit old and boring but it's not too long of a wait each time so we can roll with it.

The campfire sing a long was great, DD loved 'smores/movie, I love being anywhere in the camper and we all love the boat to MK.

We're planning on watching the fireworks from the beach then taking the boat to MK (we all enjoy that too) for extra magic hours tonight. Then tomorrow is EPCOT and my favorite Disney thing of all time, the Candlelight Processional.

DD was very surprised at the "disneyfied camper" and I'm so glad I did it for her. The Mickey and Minnie pocket sandwich maker is fantastic and I highly recommend it for anyone but especially those with kids. It makes quick and easy pocket sandwiches at the campsite (and little pocket pies!).

Okay, I'm rambling a bit here....can you tell we're happy and excited to be here? Here's a few pics of the camper and campground, I'll take some of the site tomorrow.

Thanks for sharing the pictures. I love that you decorated the camper.....what fun.:thumbsup2

Sounds like a great start, can't wait to hear of the rest of your trip. I love the Disneyfied camper. popcorn::

Glad you having Fun at the Fort is so wonderful. Love how you decorated your camper it so cute!
Can't wait to see more!

Seeing the tent ends on your camper makes me want to go out and setup ours just to see if it feels like the fort! Great pics!

Thanks for the compliments! I had a great time doing all the things to disneyfy the camper. I think making the Mickey Mouse head tree ornaments and the Disney pop up cushion backs were my favorite

Amazing what you can do with a couple of pictures, photoshop, and some iron on printer paper isn't it?
....although I did like making the shower valance too. It was all a surprise for DD and she just loved it!

Here's a picture of that sandwich maker
It's one that someone is selling on ebay but I think the auction is only for another day so the pictures may not be there after the next day or so.

After we got back from MK tonight, we used the sandwich maker to make blueberry pies-just buttered bread with blueberry pie filling in it, close the sandwich maker until done, take out and sprinkle with powdered sugar. We made them outside at the picnic table and ate them while playing cards in the screen room. Tomorrow we're going to try making the pizza pocket ones. This thing is perfect for the camper and now DD can make her own grilled cheese sandwiches at home by herself.

Have I mentioned how much I love camping? ~grin~
We got the resort mug drink plan, which has come in very handy-just drop in any time and fill it up. I think it's well worth the $13 or so dollars for unlimited refills. Drawback? Every time you go to fill your mug, you have to see and smell the food at Trail's End. We haven't tried it yet but we're being lured in slowly but surely ;)

Tonight we got on the boat from the marina to go over to MK and just as we were pulling out, the fireworks started. The boat driver pulled out into the middle of the water and we just idled and watched the fireworks. We've seen Wishes at least 35-40 times but tonight's view was the best HANDS DOWN!

The Fort does have a HUGE drawback that bugs the life out of me and here it is:

"Mama, can we go back to the campground? Mama.....mama....mama can you hear me?.....MAMA!! Can we go back to the Fort? When are we going back? Do we have to go to Magic Kingdom? Okay." 2 hours into Magic Kingdom, "Mama, can we go back to the Fort?" :headache:
So guess what? We went back to the Fort. :) .

I'm sure I'll have some more aimless rambling to post tomorrow ~grin~

On our last two trips to the Fort we felt the same way, so...we just got back from a week there where we did NO PARKS! We enjoyed all the Fort has to offer, such as canoeing, using the pool, going to the campfire program, sitting on the porch at TE enjoying a drink, riding our bikes around, and looping at night enjoying all the lights. We also went to Downtown Disney a couple times and checked out some of the other hotels to see their holiday displays. The thing is, we never got bored or wished we had done parks. I think there is nothing better than hanging out at the Fort!

We were just saying that exact thing last night..."This isn't really the place to stay if you want to do the parks-it's more of a destination in itself". I'm glad we "discovered" The Fort for that very reason. Our resident seasonal passes run out in March and we can't renew them since we have moved out of state, so for the first time in 8 years-we won't have passes to go anytime we want. After a year or 2 we'll probably get another set of passes at regular price but I can't really justify the cost to myself right now since we've been anywhere from 3-5 times a year for the past 8 years. However, coming to The Fort will be perfect for all the reasons you mentioned-now I see why people come here and don't "do the parks".

We all woke up sick this morning (courtesy of flu encrusted heater fix it man at our house before we left) but I'd rather be sick at The Fort than sick at home! I will be posting more pics once the Dayquil and Tamiflu kicks in and we can get going. :yay:

We live 3 1/2 hours away and try and go a couple of times a year. I told my DW that we are booking a week next time w go and we are not going to do very much but hang at th Fort. We always go for a few days and with the little kids we run a bit to much. Just like everyone that goes to the Fort. I am ready to go back and we have been back for just two weeks!

We have some Disney touches to our camper but I am thinking of getting a good old Musket Mickey decal on it somewhere!

So are you all telling me that 8 & 11 yr old boys will rather be in the Fort than in the parks?? :sad2: Could've saved me some money on those 10 day park tickets!

Oh well, it's Christmas & we'll be in DISNEY!!!!!!! :cool1: And that 4 day leave mark below has just been moved up by a day thanks to mother nature. Sure ain't leaving on a snow day! Best to get there a day early than a day late. :woohoo:

i miss disney, esp. at christmas. it is just so expensive at that time of year we only go once in a while. thanks for the pics they were great.

ughhhh I want to go back NOW!!!

We were at the Fort Oct 07 for 11 days and went again this Sept but stayed at All Star. While we had a nice time, we will never stray from our beloved Fort again.

We are going next Christmas prob the week before xmas and will only hit the parks a cpl of days. We really want to spend more time around the campground.

Thanks for posting the pics.. makes me "homesick" lol.
Cant wait!!
