At the Fort for our first time now! Another ginormous pic pg 4

Good gosh woman, do you hear the words that are coming outta your mouth ?!?!?!

Everybody knows that

Pork Fat Rules !! :woohoo:

Well, ya know....down here in L.A. (Lower Alabama), we like to put some kinda pork or pork fat in everything! Bacon/bacon grease, salt pork, ham, and just because it's so super extra special...we like to bread and deep fry up some pork chops. That's why we have cornbread or biscuits with every meal...to sop up the grease...you can't let that go to waste! ~grin~

The RWB potato salad is made and the piglets have already started dipping in it but I have them fooled this time...I made 20 pounds worth! MUHAHAHAHA, let's see them try to eat all of that before everyone gets here tomorrow evening! Okay, I just looked up and youngest DD (also known as the girl who never eats anything but continues to live) walked by with another bowl. Crap. Maybe I should have made 30 pounds.

For those of you who like to salivate over horribly unhealthy food, here is Christmas morning's breakfast menu for the entire brood:

Cathead buttermilk biscuits, country ham, red eye gravy, grits, cheese grits, sausage links, sausage gravy, home fried potatoes and onions, fried apples (apples slices fried in a bit of butter with sugar and cinnamon then left to "sweat" in the pan until soft), coffee, milk, orange juice, and pear, damson, and strawberry preserves for those who like sweets on their biscuits.

After that, we'll all sit around and listen to our arteries harden.

Oh, red, white, and blue potato salad is WICKED good!

Whoa - If I weren't covered in paper cuts from all the gift wrapping I'd be whipping up a batch of this right now! Thanks for sharing the recipe. :goodvibes

I'll be right down! :rotfl:

Funny all this talk about pork fat. I made giant sea scallops tonight for dinner wrapped in ... you guessed it - BACON! The extra thick kind too.

My grandmother was French-Canadian and I think her people worshipped everything pork related. Growing up I didn't realize you could eat a pork chop if it wasn't extra fatty and FRIED.

Mmmmmmm.... fried pork chop..... (having a Homer Simpson moment) :lmao:

DD insisted I post a picture of her ham and cheese pocket sandwich made in the Mickey/Minnie sandwich maker

.

I think the best ones are the blueberry pie ones. I'll post the next time we're able to go to The Fort so folks can stop by the pop-up for hot mini cheese muffins and a blueberry pie.

BradyBz12, I will think of you during dinner tonight because we are having FRIED PORK CHOPS! WOO HOOO

Did you know that when you first take the sandwich out of the maker, the melted cheese inside is very hot? Did you know that melted cheese will stick to the roof of your mouth and burn a hole in it?

Not that I would know by experience or anything.......

Presactly why you should always have a cold beer or kungaloosh handy when eating hot foods.
