Pretty upset with them.

Been a customer with them since the days they were still Cellular One - Over 11 years.

Anyways, my phone was eligible for an upgrade. I was having a bunch of problems with my Razr phone. So, I went and bought a new phone today. They were able to obviously put my SIM in the new phone, so I still have my address book. However, all of my games and ringtones that I downloaded and paid for - Gone.

I called AT&T asking what they could do. I figure, if they can't send the games and ringtones to my new phone, credit my account for the amount of money I've spent on them. They won't do it.

I don't know. I think that kind of sucks. I mean, I've been a customer for 11 years, spent close to $10,000 on service with them, and they won't credit me about $50 to get back what I lost?

Yeah that is the way it works, Sprint did samething when I switched phones :(

Oh I know, I hate that! I won't spend money on games or ringtones since they are so crappy about it. We put about $50 worth on my daughter's phone and it BROKE (which I've found is a typical problem for that phone). Ridiculous.

I miss Cell One. Ours only merged with AT&T about two years ago and we refused to make the switch until last fall when we absolutely had to. Cellular One never had dropped calls or problems, and we get that all the time with ATT.

I thought that was standard practice for all companies?

It's just a way to gouge more money out of everyone.

Lot of companies do the same type of thing. You're paying for something that is semi-permanent. It's the same thing with computers and many programs. You have a computer with programs that you love. Then you buy a new one and you have to re-load all those programs on. Only some you have to pay for again because it's a separate computer.

This is one reason why when I had a cell phone that I never purchased any extras for it.

My husband upgraded his phone last month, and the guy at the AT&T store who helped us copied all his ringtones and pictures to the new phone.

Maybe it just depends on how friendly and helpful an employee wants to be.

Best Buy said they would do that for hubby when he upgraded.

This is way VZW is also. They are all in it for the money, not the customer satisfaction.

I'm assuming you still have your old phone, if both phones have bluetooth, you can always bluetooth the things to your new phone.

That's fairly typical with cell phones, unless, as another poster said, you get a super helpful, techie salesperson.
