At SSR now

Other threads are reporting that parks are closing due to crowds.
Did you happen to see that?
It's like a train wreck to me - I am so curious how packed a closed park would be....

So sorry to hear about your arm, hope all is okay. Enjoy all the goodies you were able to bring home. Nice to hear you enjoyed horseback riding. We'll have to try that some time too.

Thanks for the report.

Ilovecoasters! This makes me very excited for SSR in a month. My understanding was that if you are staying at a disney resort you are allowed into the park regardless of the capacity. Is this still true or did you decide to not go because it was so full. I wasnt sure if it was your choice vs Disney choice of not letting ANYONE in.

I have heard that spring break is the worst time to go due to crowds. Now I hear Christmas is crowded too. My bil went for spring break one year with this 4 kids and swore he would never return. Since I have been fortunate to go when it isnt crowded, I will return again and again.. although not on spring break.

We didn't stay at the parks because of the horrible crowds, not because we couldn't get in. That's why we planned other activities such as horseback riding, the tour at MK, Quest, and minature golf. We also went and explored some of the other resorts such as FW and GF. I thought it was a much more relaxing trip and it really made me appreciate having PAP and DVC. I felt so badly for the other families though. You could just see the disappointment on their faces and the frustration with the lines. We've gone during spring break for a long time and this was the busiest we've ever seen it. Other than Orange County, most of the local school systems were closed this week. Maybe this had something to do with it, since it is also leading up to Easter?? We don't regret going. We still had an awesome time. Our next trip isn't until 8/5 and we'll be staying at AKV. It's going to be a long wait.

what type of room did you stay in? did you request a certain view? candy question where did you get the fudge? is that in DTD-sorry for all the newbie questions:goodvibes

Well...I'm now at home. Last night was so cold. We ate at Wolfgang's again and then spent a few hours at Quest. Had a small issue with the bus to DTD. The driver "didn't see me" getting on and closed the door on my arm. We got a oops, sorry and a "It's a good thing there's an automatic sensor so it won't hurt you". I was just glad it was me and not a child. No bruises, but it is sore. We stopped at guest relations and all they could do was give us a card to write the higher ups. That's what happens when you overfill the bus. Next time I'll make sure not to wear my invisibility cloak.
We stopped at the Candy Cauldron this morning and used up 16 snack credits. $67.00 worth of fudge, candied apples, and chocolates. To answer your question, you do need to make reservations for horseback riding. I called about 2 weeks ago. Horseback riding was by far our favorite activity that we've done at Disney...period. I thought nothing would top the Segway tour we did 3 years ago, but this beat it. The guides were just so nice to us.
We were almost glad to be leaving this morning. The crowds make it almost impossible to relax. Well...now off to the bad part...washing clothes and unpacking.

Ow, sorry about the arm thing. I know how that feels, I had a metro train door (in Washington, D.C.) close on my arm once. I was actually holding my oldest son (he was a baby at the time) and used my arm to keep it from hitting him.

That's interesting what you say about the horseback riding being your favorite acvitity, even better than the Segway! I did the Segway tour last year and LOVED it. Boy was it fun. Now you've got me really wanting to do the horseback riding too. I have done it before but it's been a long time.

We stayed in a studio. We didn't request a certain view, but did request Congress Park. We've never had a bad view there. Fudge can be found at Goofy's and Candy Cauldron.
