So we all share places we love at HHI. The Salty Dog is on our list of to do's. But if you're going to eat at the Wreck of the Salty Dog, and they try to sit you down at a table served by a blond guy with glasses, whose name rhymes with commie, well then ask for a new table. First he refused to take our order when we were ready to order, because the table next to us hadn't ordered yet, and they were seated first. So we had to wait while they sent him away needing more time before we could order. Then he came over and asked if we'd like some hushpuppies. DH said, "sure" and this guy said, "did you order them?" So we said we hadnt so we got no hushpuppies. And to top it off, he got my order wrong.

So give the Salty Dog a fighting chance if this is your first trip and refuse his service at first glance.

Thanks, we're at HHI now. Hadn't planned on going there, but if we do we will keep an eye out for the "Commie"

Mike, have you been to Flamingo Doughnuts, yet? Head down and go straight through the traffic circle to the far side. Turn left into the shopping Center with Harris Teeter, just before the Sea Pines gate. I've been working out twice a day, just to compensate...go. You must.

I'll second that on the Flamingo Bakery - Yummmmm - went there Sunday morning. Would eat there everyday if it weren't so darn unhealthy!

Has anyone been to Captain Woody's restaurant? The website makes it sound similar to the Salty Dog.

I have been to the Salty Dog several times. I had no problems with the service and food was good, but not outstanding. A bit pricey for what you got, but we will return. JMHO

We went to Captain Woody's on the recommendation of a "local". Unfortunately, we were not impressed at all. Service & food were mediocre at best, & as I recall, the prices were pretty similar to the Salty Dog. Our last trip to the SD was not good (I will NEVER order the tuna salad again), but we have always had a great experience at the Sea Shack...we go there at least once every trip! :thumbsup2

We just got home and tried the Crazy Crab in Harbour Town, this time. It was a nice alternative to the Salty Dog for seafood. They take call ahead, and I really recommend that you do.

As it turns out Stickey Fingers was the only place that we had really good service, this time.

LOVE Flamingo Doughnuts! So worth the wait. Eat them hot, they are better than Krispy Kreme!

We ate at the Grumpy Grouper. Food was OK. Fried fish was very oily. Had the early bird special at Just Pasta. Food was delicious. Just be aware that the place is very small (about 10 tables!) We had bagels at Woodys Darn Good bagels and they were very good. Also can't go wrong with burgers from Harolds!

Has anyone ever eaten at Dye's Gullah Fixins? I heard this place is good.
