At long last, Nicki & Todd are going back to WDW, LIVE!

We drove to the park again tonight, it is really so much easier.

It cooled down alot and we were early for our 7pm at La Hacienda ressie, we checked in at 6:15 and were seated 10 minutes later. The restaurant is gorgeous, if you want to see Illuminations I recommend sitting in the far rear as that is where the windows overlook the center of the lake.

The chips are excellent, they are hot and crispy and just enough salt. The green salsa was very good and I like that and Todd loved the red one which was very thick and had a smokey BBQ taste to it

Todd wanted to try the queso fundido and the black bean soup so I told him to get both and I would pick. The black bean soup was served tableside and was loaded with cheese and tortilla strips and cactus leaves. This was beyond spicy and I love spicy foods...DH loved it and ate the whole thing. I sucked down ice tea like there was no tomorrow

Nov14Epcotnight002.jpg

The queso fundido was gross. It was not hot, not melted but more congealed and the sausage was dried out. The flour tortillas that came with it were very dried out and hard. I would have sent it back if the waitress ever came around

Nov14Epcotnight001.jpg

I knew I was going to get the shrimp tacos, there were 4 of them with 4 shrimp in each one. One bite and I was sputtering...they were so spicy I could not eat them and I am not a wuss, I love spicy foods but this was ridiculous. Todd was very willing to take them over and I had to wonder why......what was going through that man's head??

Todd LOVED the shrimp tacos, the heat was fine with him and the shrimp was excellent.

Todd had ordered the pork with mole sauce served with corn torillas, veggies and sweet potato mash (more like puree). It came with rice and black beans. He took one taste and didnt like it at all...the mole sauce was like a thick almost chewy gritty sauce and it turned him off. When he offered to switch I could care less what he ordered as long as it would not make my mouth a raging inferno

What did I think of it? I loved the roasted veggies and the sweet potato puree, the beans were overly salty and the rice had no taste at all. The pork was very dry and the mole was gross.

Negative on dessert...there are better things in Epcot to sweeten us up...like something from Germany? :rolleyes1

Would we eat here again? No, I dont think so...we really missed SAI believe it or not.

Instead of over priced margaritas we went to France for Grey Goose slushies...much better choice :thumbsup2

Since we skipped dessert at LH we had to get somthing sweet somewhere...so where did we go??? :rolleyes1

BACK TO GERMANY BABY!

The place was packed, a line around the building. The plan was to split the oatmeal apple caramel cookie...it was gross. Very dry and hard and blech

Nov14Epcotnight013.jpg

They were making fresh caramel corn so we had to get another little bag...it sold out in seconds.

Tomorrow brings us to Boma for breakfast, a day at the pool and then a late lunch at Via Napoli with a caramel apple for dessert (Todd's request so how can I say no? )

Then a boat ride to HS for the Osborne Lights and if we get hungry we will grab CS there.

See you all tomorrow!!!

Why don't you just get some cereal and fruit for the room and then have a CS lunch?

Tell Todd Mark is VERY jealous and said to ship him some. :)

They have some great looking cinny raisin bagels, may try that. Do you think it would survive the shipping or my husband eating it before I send it? :rotfl:

WOW! Great updates! Omg that caramel shop looks soooo good!!! My mouth is watering looking at all your amazing pics. 3 days til we're down there with ya! Keep the awesomeness coming!!:goodvibes:goodvibes

You have got to get to that store, you may find us there :lmao:

Sorry you missed your DIS meet. How is your aunt?

Me too...she is not doing well at all. My mom takes care of her in Boston and she was sick with a bad cold and now they think it may be pneumonia. I think my other aunt that lives here may go up there and help my mom out with the situation for a bit. My mom is great but in areas like this she gets a little panicky because she is up there alone, since her brother and sister in law past away last year. Thank you for asking

Oh my gosh that caramel store looks like heaven!!!!

It is, Todd/Nicki heaven :rotfl2:

We went back to the caramel shop (I know, again?? :rotfl2:) and they will de-stick the apples and cut them into 6 pieces for you...good to know for tomorrow
That's great to know - especially for DD and her braces. :lovestruc

I wanted to love the short ribs and potatos at France but mine was cold and the potatoes were hard, not smooth. The taste wasn't terrible so I guess it could have been good but it wasn't. I had it first thing at 11 when they opened, I think nothing at that time is going to be good because it has sat for a bit waiting for the open time. I would love to try it again but will never go on a Saturday again. You gave me hope to try F&W again. You had the good and the same wasn't good the next day. It was just one of those days I experienced.

Yikes! Now I'm worried about our La Hacienda reservation. :guilty: Should we switch to Cape May Cafe? :confused3

I am sorry about the couple at Nar-they need to leave their drama in the room. I am also sad the the La Hacienda meal was nasty. YAY for the carmel shop. I am so going there in Dec. Hurray for MVMCP tickets!!

hope you have better luck getting a good hot breakfast at Main Street Bakery...we ate there Saturday morning and were seriously disappointed. Cold, tough-as-leather cinnamon roll...only edible part was the very center, about 1/2 of it was so tough could not bite through it at all. Frosting was so cold it had not even begun to melt. Mark's apple turnover was similarly cold, though not as tough. I think the pan of rolls I was served from had been uncovered over night in a fridge. We were so disappointed...really thought the bakery items would be warm & fresh first thing in the morning. Apparently not.

And sorry you didn't like Mexico: we loved La Hacienda on Friday night...and can vouch those specialty are wonderful (and have way more booze than the Gray Goose slushies, much as we like those, too.)

So, does Mexico have a counter service anymore? I'm confused and tired....my 7 year old's Birthday party today was exhausting! But, your trip report is perking me up! :)

Nicki - I'm sorry y'all didn't like La Hacienda. Thanks for the pm and the info on the place! We LOVE super spicy so I'm thinking we'll be OK there???

I just cannot eat here anymore, it is pretty blah. Thank goodness we are going to Boma tomorrow so I can get a real breakfast in me! Funny enough is I just eat Special K in my non Disney life but on vacation I want a nice breakfast every day :rotfl:

OMgosh... me too! We are going to Maui next week and I'm trying to figure out all the breakfast places to eat at. I just love a hot breakfast on vacations. But at home I'm eating oatmeal or egg whites. Go figure!

I no longer need any ADRs .....................

Breakfast - Caramel Kitchen
Lunch - Caramel Kitchen
Dinner - Caramel Kitchen

If they open a cocktail bar I may never leave the building :rotfl:

:lmao: could not agree more!

absolutely loving the reviews and the caramel fixes, Nicki, but that app at la Hacienda looks absolutley gross!

I was happy to see the CM doing that too...I had braces as a kid and ever since then I cannot bite into apples, pears, corn on the cob etc.

I think everything is hit an miss and the CM's were all in a party mood because it was the last day of the F&W...once chef said it felt like he was out there forever and would be glad to get back into the restaurants again.

Yikes! Now I'm worried about our La Hacienda reservation. :guilty: Should we switch to Cape May Cafe? :confused3

If we had to choose between the 2 it would def be Cape May. We both were so excited to try La Hacienda and Todd really enjoyed it but I didnt like it at all. I asked him if he would go back and he said no, he prefers SAI

I agree Mary, how can you yell at a sweet little boy? Especially at the dinner table? You will love the caramel shop, it is the best new thing at Epcot!

I sure hope that the food is better at MS Bakery when we go, I am thinking tomorrow morning. What did you guys eat at La Hacienda? The couple next to us had this platter with chicken and flat iron steak and it looked pretty good but they left most of it on the table so I wonder if they thought it was too spicy or just not that great.

So, does Mexico have a counter service anymore? I'm confused and tired....my 7 year old's Birthday party today was exhausting! But, your trip report is perking me up! :)

Yes they do and I would like to try that too. Happy b-day to your little one!

Nicki - I'm sorry y'all didn't like La Hacienda. Thanks for the pm and the info on the place! We LOVE super spicy so I'm thinking we'll be OK there???

I wish we did like it....so far the new places are not working out to well for us. We are trying Via Napoli today. If you like spice you should like it alot!

OMgosh... me too! We are going to Maui next week and I'm trying to figure out all the breakfast places to eat at. I just love a hot breakfast on vacations. But at home I'm eating oatmeal or egg whites. Go figure!

It must be a vacation thing...it gets my appetite going!

That is a great plan Linda!

It was gross. We were thinking you just scoop the cheese with the tortillas but I had to cut it with a knife and fork and plop it on the tortilla. The shine you see on top was grease!

Good morning everyone! Its going to be a hot one today, 80!!! We are getting ready for Boma and we are both starving for some reason. I hope the place isnt too busy so I can get some nice buffet pictures...its been 2 years since we have had breakfast here and I am very excited!

After breakfast we are going to have a pool and pina day, hang at the pool and drink pina coladas and daquiries all day!

Go to Epcot for a late lunch at Via Napoli and a caramel apple for dessert and then head to HS for the Osborne Lights. They are open until 10pm tonight so I hope we stay until then...if we get hungry we can grab some CS from HS, I know there is BBQ by the ToT and a buffalo chicken sandwich at another place.

Hope you are all having a great Monday!

Nic

Oh my goodness, Germany will become my new best friend. We don't have parkhoppers for our next trip. I am going to have to get to that caramel shop and make it worthwhile. Fresh caramel corn YUMMMMMMM! I should make sure I bring a large purse with me that day. I'm looking forward to your Boma review and hope you have better luck for breakfast. I have an ADR for breakfast at Cape May. It was between Boma and Cape May. I'm thinking after your review it possibly needs to be changed (again). Have you been to Cape May for breakfast and any opinions??? Gosh, we have NEVER driven to the parks. You're tempting me. I just can't imagine it being quicker and easier. With our luck we'd end up in Tampa instead of the correct park. :rotfl2: Enjoy today!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the update, hope you guys have a wonderful day!Enjoy the lights tonight.
