At last free Wifi inroom from today :)

Using it at the moment, no password needed. Just shows up as guest wireless and you press the accept button, when you see the terms and conditions, connected in 10 seconds, very easy process.

Bugger!! I just bought a wireless micro router for our December trip! :lmao:

Seriously, it's a good addition and sorely needed. My only negative thought is that there's 'nothing for free' in this world. I'm sure Disney are raking make the cash from somewhere...

I'm surprised to see that BLT isn't included. I'm sure there are more that aren't but for some reason this one stood out for me.
I have long questioned why wi-fi wasn't free at Disney (obviously it is an easy money spinner for them - but they were really behind the times on this one) so this will come as welcome news to lots of guests :thumbsup2

BLT is part of the contemporary and has been fitted out - DH found the router behind the TV in the living room a couple of weeks ago!

It was asked when BLT & AKV Kidani were built why Wifi wasn't included and it was something to do with contracts for Internet services.

I am wondering if they will keep it to deluxe for now and advertise it as benefit

Thanks for the info Kev, sounds very easy, I suppose they don't need to worry about passwords like the offsite hotels.

for the prices they charge for "value" resorts, they certainly should be providing internet for free as well..

i wonder who's providing the service for them....

Another DVC perk gone out the window. No chance of our dues being reduced I suppose. ;)

Great news for those of us with iDevices, Android tablets etc. that don't have an ethernet socket.

I'd heard about work happening on wifi in a couple of DVC resorts, but a nice surprise to see it extended to other resorts and actually free!

Wifi is massively overdue, I'm amazed that they've been in the dark ages for so long about this, it borders on embarrassing for something of WDW's scale.

Glad to see they finally woke up and have started to sort this, will be watching closely for reports that it consistenly works ok in practice though before deciding whether to leave the wireless router at home, fingers crossed that there aren't any teething problems!

Just back from a split stay at Saratoga Springs and Hilton Grand Vacations SeaWorld and had decided that next time we will probably only stay at one resort, so we were ranking which one we preferred. It was about even, but the Hilton having free wi-fi was a definite plus for them, but now (a week too late!) Disney have levelled that one up as well. Decisions, decisions!

I had no issue with paying for internet access but it did seem a bit backwards for Disney to insist on direct cable connections only especially for people like me who only have an iPod Touch or iPad rather than a laptop. I'd have willingly paid for wi-fi access for 24 hours if I could - ended up going to CSR to get on the web in the end.

I felt exactly the same. We never sit in our room to relax - we are always out - so it wasn't a big issue and I only paid for 3 sessions of internet access. Perhaps I would have felt different if I had wanted it every day though. Not that it has been rolled out at the moderates at this stage, but I am sure it will follow in due course. :thumbsup2 Did you have a good time?

since we had unlimited data on the iphones we rented, we never used the disney internet...we used our iphones to tether the laptops...worked really well..

Well spotted that man!! :yay::yay::yay:
Netbooks - iPads - smart phones - by the poolside....
Next step up from live updates??....streaming a live video podcast! :lmao:

:rotfl2: How cool would that be!! Imagine: "Hi from DHS. No wait for RnR. Who's coming with me?"

We did almost exactly that at Mousemeets in April this year. There was a live video link up with a guy at Magic Kingdom and we got to tell him where we wanted him to go. I know he went on PeopleMover and into Fantasyland but I forget where else he went. We were going to go and meet Mickey but we lost the signal when he went inside so he had to come back out again.
