Are the ride vehicles for AO the same size as those in Dumbo, Magic Carpets of Aladdin, or Triceratop Spin? Since the TTA will be down during our visit, I thought I'd add this ride to our list for its view of Tomorrowland at night. We rode it in 2001 but found it terrifying for some reason (the height, coupled with being overweight [though we had our own rockets], made it seem as if the rockets would break off and launch over Tomorrowland at any moment!). We fit comfortably in the others; just wasn't sure about this one.

Thanks!

Closer to Dumbo than Aladdin. (The "carpets" are actually VERY wide.)

Astro Orbitor's seats are on the small side.

AO's seats are long, as opposed to wide, since you sit one behind another. But a big person should not have any problems fitting in.

i rode it about 3 years ago. dh is "pooh-sized" and i remember thinking there was NO way he could fit in that seat.

i'll bet allearsnet had some advice for this ride.

to be honest, this is one of the few rides that i rode once and never again. the wait was ridiculous and the ride was boring yet scary, if that makes any sense. i just kept hoping it would be over soon. it just seemed so much higher once i was up there. i love all the normal rides, EE, RNR, ToT, SM, etc., but astro orbiter was just not the ride for me.

lol, i suppose i gave you more than what you asked for. ;)

I don't care for it either and I do think that it is the height thing. I normally am not bothered by being up high and I love all the other "thrill" rides, but this one bothers me. :scared1:

Allears didn't have much, which is why I posted here. Thanks for your thoughts - the length of your response was fine! :goodvibes

I rode it in December. I'm 5'10 and a size 24/26, so I'm not little in either sense. I had plenty of room (and leg room!). You do sit a bit low, so you can look kind of awkward getting out if you're all legs like I am, but no trouble! ;)

We haven't ride it yet but we are planning for that in our next trip this year.

Have a nice day everyone. :)

I am a size 22/24 and it's the only ride I got stuck on.

I also didn't realize there was a seatbelt and so I didn't put it on. The CM didn't notice and it wasn't until we were up in the air that I found the seatlbelt and freaked out. I was terrified and thought I was going to die! :rotfl2:

Getting out was very difficult as I had a hard time lifting my weight out with my arms. My skinny husband rode with me and hated it as well. Never Again!

No bueno!

OP, it probably depends on where one carries his/her weight, because I had none of the problems this poster mentioned, just problems scooting back far enough to let my knees bend.

I'm glad to see they have seatbelts now. When DW and I went in '84 we rode it (not sure what it was called back then) but I freaked out because there weren't any seatbelts, thought sure I would fall out when the jet tilted. DW still makes fun of me for it.
