I'M NEW BE PATIENT PLEASE. NEED INFO FROM ANYWONE WHO HAS JUST WENT TO DISNEY. DO THEY CLEAN THEIR ROOMS WITH BLEACH OR BLEACH PRODUCTS? I AM VERY ALLERGIC TO THIS PRODUCT. I HAVE AN UPCOMING VACATION IN OCT AND AM STAYING AT HOTEL ROYAL(IF THEY ARE OPEN) AND ONE NIGHT AT POP CENTURY. EVEN IF THEY USE IT ONE TIME I CAN TELL AND END UP HAVING A BAD ATTACK. HAD TO LEAVE A HOTEL AGAIN THIS WEEKEND BECAUSE THEY LIED AND SAID THEY DIDN'T USE BLEACH. :sad2: HAD TO DRIVE BACK THROUGH 2 STATES WITH 8 HOURS ON THE ROAD. SO PLEASE IF YOU CAN HELP ME.!!!!

could you have someone in your family go in and clean/rinse before you go in?

I would think most hotels use bleach to wash the sheets and towels. It seems like that to me. For sure the towels in Disney.

BLEACH IN THE TOWELS AND BEDDING ISN'T THE PROBLEM. OTHER HOTELS ARE CLEANING THE ROOMS LIKE THE SINKS,TOILETS, AND TUBS WITH IT. PLUS ONE HOTEL USED IT AS AN AIR FRESHNER IT WAS SO STRONG. THIS WEEKEND I EVEN TOOK LYSOL WIPES AND WIPED EVERYTHING DOWN AND I MEAN EVERYTHING BUT IT WAS STILL THERE. AFTER I SAID I WAS CHECKING OUT THEY ADMITTED THEY USED IT ONCE,HA! FOR SPOTS THEY COULDN'T GET OUT AND I'M FIGURING THE CARPET. SO THANKS FOR THE QUICK REPLY. I SEE WHERE PEOPLE HAVE KIDS WITH BREATHING PROBLEMS HOW DO YOU DO IT? I HAVEN'T GONE ANYWHERE FOR 2 YRS AND TO HAVE THIS HAPPEN. :sad2:

I understand very well because I also have Asthma and I understand how bleach and other products can and do effect you. Call Disney and the hotel and tell them you issues and I know they will try get your room ready a little different. I myself ask if things can be cleaned with vinegar because that seems to clean pretty well and doesn't effect my asthma like bleach does.
Hope this helps.

We just got back yesterday from Pop Century and at no time in our room did I smell bleach. I can't say for sure that they didn't clean with it, but I have asthma and a very sensitive nose and I never smelled bleach when we were there.

I would call Disney and ask. They were very accomidating when one person in our party had a food allergy.

WHIT1, welcome to the Dis. Just for your info, when you type in uppercase, it means that you are 'shouting'. I know you don't mean to shout at us!

Schmeck sorry i use caps all the time to write,it makes it easier for me to see plus i wanted it to stick and cause i am so desperate for replies for my upcoming trip. sort of freaking out. in time i will learn the tricks of the board so please be patient. but thanks for telling me.

DisneyFan i too clean with vingar and its great. i use to work at a hospital and was exposed to all kinds of chemicals and they didn't bother me but now i'm a weenie. so i will call and ask what they use and request a special cleaning but if the person used alot when they cleaned that stuff lingers. you all are great ,thanks again.

Last Jan, we stayed at POR and when we walked in the room it STUNK of bleach. I hate bleach and it took me at least a day to get used to the smell.

Maybe, you can call the hotel in advance and they can not use bleach to the clean the room prior to your arrival.

Haven't noticed the smell of it in the deluxes. :) Welcome to the DIS!

thats the problem i can't get use to it. the first time it happened i was in a best western and it was just cleaned. i felt like i was in a bleach bottle. i tried for 5 hours and had to leave. i ended up with pleuriesy and was then told i also had asthma. then this weekend wasn't so strong but it was there and my tongue started to swell. i know there is nasty germs out there but this cleaner cannot be used in a confined area without it causing people harm. there are other products out there. thanks for reply.

thanks for telling me about pop cause we will be staying there oct 7th and i will call ahead to ask them about the room. so if your sensitive nose didn't smell it then i can sort of rest easy. its hard after being burned x2.

WDW does use a lot of bleach, and they will NOT clean with vinegar. (They are required to use only certain cleaners per company policy.)

That said, you need to call special services and talk to them to see what they can do.

I know what you mean about certain asthma triggers, for me bleach is not a problem, but Lysol is.

Anne

if bleach is an allergen, you will also want to request that you do not have a room near/facing a pool... wdw heavily chlorinates their pools (for obvious germ-fighting reasons) and it is very pungent when the chemicals are added...

We've been to disney nearly 30 times and I've never smelled bleach at OKW, All Stars, Coronado Springs, Wilderness Lodge, Caribbean Beach, or the Ft. Wilderness Cabins.

And I *love* to clean with bleach, so I'd notice it.

I agree with the poster about the pools, though, the smell from them is very noticeable-for me it's an enjoyable smell, but then again my husband laughs at me because I think horse manure is an enjoyable smell, too.

Try not to freak out about the bleach...

well so far its good news about not the values not having bleach yet. i will be staying at pop and so far so good. its kind of hard not to freak out about it when your tongue and throat are starting to swell and coughing. i even cleaned the place with lysol and sprayed febreze all over the place. there's got to be something that can cut the odor. any suggestions?

Anything that you spray is just adding more chemicals.
Actually a lot of hotels use products without bleach because it is more difficult for staff to deal with (the fumes) and possibility of damage from the bleach to carpets, shower curtains and other surfaces that it might splash/drip on.
Call Special Resort Reservations: 407-939-7807 (TTY: 407-939-7670) and request that they don't use products containing bleach to clean your room.

I don't have asthma and won't use products like Febreeze cause they bother my plain allergies. Bleach is a good way to get rid of allergens esp in bedding and towels. I would call ahead but don;t go adding to your misery by spraying air frehsners and such, they are probably worse for you.
