Asthma, bleach, Disney Hotel Rooms. Please Help!!!

Ok, this might be a really stupid comment---but I'm just trying to help :)

I don't have environmental allergies, so I know nothing about them---but can you take something like Benadryl before going into the room so that in case there is something your body is allergic to, you won't get the allergy??

that wasn't a stupid comment. please don't think that. its just frustrating when a person goes in a room and you wipe everything down and spray and you think hey its working. then hours later everything starts. can't take antihistamine because of a drug. the pic that i have under my name is not what i look like . i just thought it looked cool. sorry i upset you.

Hi there WHIT1,
We were just at Pop Century June 3-13 and I have asthma as well. I can't recall smelling bleach, although one day the bathroom did smell strongly from the cleaner. I simply turned on the fan in the bathroom and closed the door. It definitely helped 'pull' things out of the room. Maybe this would work for you as well? Keep the fan on! :) It is supposed to be on a timer, but ours never turned off on its own.
Good luck! I hope you have a bleach free trip! (BTW, the comments about the pool are true - strong smell. I rinsed the swimming suits after each visit to the pool and you could still smell the chlorine as they hung to dry in the bathroom.)

My comment about trying not to freak out was not meant to be flip; my mother has similar upper respiratory sensitivities, in her case to molds, and if she starts stressing about the possibility of mold in her vicinity she can actually trigger an attack whether there is actually mold there or not.

The mind is a powerful thing, and I don't think you should discount your ability to control or initiate a reaction mentally.

I can sometimes get myself so worked up over something that the stress will trigger an asthma attack. Also, I can sometimes use relaxation techniques to stop one when it's at the very beginning.

Anne

you are so right about getting yourself worked up about a smell. the hotel i was in this past weekend was not to bad but it was there. cleaned ,sprayed, kept door open, took xanax, deep breathing techniques, walked outside, and watched a movie. it didn't help. my dh was having problems to. but by using all the info that has been given to be and disney has never let me down yet ,i know my trip will be great.
