Hello, friends:).

We took my parents with us to HHI in 2013 and they really enjoyed it. Yesterday, my dad called me and said he would like to take mom back to HHI this February and stay at the Disney resort:thumbsup2. He found availability for a studio through CRO and wondered what the process was for booking a "regular" (i.e. not using points) room. I remembered that he is an associate on my membership. When I have booked cash rooms from MS with a discount, I was always asked for the name on the reservation and was told I could book a room for someone else. That leads to my question...can my dad call MS and book a room (subject to availability) through them? Or would I have to call?

Thanks!

Since your Dad is on your membership as an Associate, he has all the "permissions" he needs to make reservation using your points or to manage your account. That also includes making a cash reservation at a DVC resort. It doesn't matter whose name is on the reservation, whether it be for points or a cash.

Of course, he'll need your membership number to talk to MS.

Awesome! Thanks!

One more question...can he set up an online profile for himself or would he need my username and password? He has my member number (somewhere) but I am not sure what "security measures" they have in place for associate members.

Associate Members can have their own log on to the member website. I'm an associate and have my own log on. I don't have access using my log on to dues or loan information, but have access to everything else.

They control access to the website by used of a Club ID. Everyone (owners & associate members) is assigned a unique Club ID. Under a single membership, the last portion of the Club ID will be different for each individual (.1, .2, etc.).

He can call MS and select option #6 (web tech support) and they can assist him in setting up access to the member website.

Thanks! You guys are great:hug:.

Are members allowed to book a discounted cash reservation through DVC for other people's use, I didn't think they were allowed.

That's my understanding as well, Dean. Cash reservations were only supposed to be for the member.

I edited my post but it looks like you read it the way I intended anyway, LOL. I'm OK with DVCMC or DVD doing whatever they want with the rooms they have control off assuming they provide the funds back to the membership where appropriate. It's just that my understanding was the cash reservations required a member present.
