My daughter has asthma and is recovering from pneumonia. She can't stand in long lines or be too active right now. Her doctor wrote a note requesting she be given an assistance pass. Does anyone know if that is all we need?

They can't look at doctor's notes. Go to City Hall, tell them what you need. I am not an expert in this, but I pay attention and try to learn from what others post, and from what I've read...probably getting her a wheelchair would be really helpful, and let them know she can't *stand* in lines so would need to take the wheelchair entrances.

Something that came to mind, if you go and there are short lines and she's up to standing, make sure you are aware that some lines have stairs where you'd least expect them. BTMRR and Splash have stairs well into the ride, and TSMM has them at the end as you're exiting. If stairs are out but she might want to stand in some lines, let them know that, too, so they can help.

You may want to check out the Disabilities forum for lots more info, but in the meantime, it appears that your daughter's issue is a stamina one, and in that case Disney is going to suggest that you get a wheelchair if she cannot wait long in lines standing on her own. A "guest assistance card" -- which is what you need (often called GAC for short) is NOT a "front of the line" pass. In some instances you will wait longer with a GAC than being in the regular line. (One example--the line for Pirates can take a long time if you're in a wheelchair.)

If you are bringing or renting a wheelchair you will not need a GAC as the Cast Members will see the mobility aid. If your daughter is walking and needs to avoid stairs, etc. then stop in City Hall and get a GAC--they will stamp it, for example, that she needs to avoid stairs. Not sure how many are in your party but a total of 6 people are able to be included on one GAC (i.e., your DD and five others)

All of the lines in DCA are accessible; in Disneyland it will vary--if you don't rent a wheelchair from Disney then be sure to stop in City Hall also to get a booklet indicating how to access each ride (some you use the regular line, some you use the exit)

Good luck and have a great time!
