I hate it when people post things like "Am I a crazy person" and then when people say, "yeah, kinda" they get super offended.

I've found that if one has to ask that question, then the answer is almost always a resounding, "YES".

OP - I'm sorry if I came across curt, but that's the harsh reality of being a parent and having to deal with these sorts of things in public. As you can see, others agree with my reasoning, since we're getting a lot of repeat replies here. Just take it as a lesson learned, and what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Or, in this case, wiser.
A little anecdote from my own personal experience: my boyfriend is very allergic to cinnamon. It causes an almost-instantaneous upchuck reflex, even if it's just on his hand or face (moreso when ingested). I carry a travel pack of Wet Ones antibacterial wipes with me everywhere I go (in the car, in my purse, in my park bag for when we're at WDW) for just these types of situations. I use them more to wipe cinnamon infected stuff like his hands or tabletops or cutlery, rather than for the aftermath, but they work well for both purposes. Live and learn.
I'm so sorry that happened. As a mom myself, I can see how that situation would have been completely overwhelming and frustrating. I probably would have broken down in tears myself just because I would have been mortified and overwhelmed.
