Assignment of Guide when buying resale

At what point in the resale process is a Guide assigned to you? (Assuming that one is assigned at all.) We have friends who own DVC and are happy with their Guide. Is it possible to request a certain Guide to be assigned to us?
Also, we have had brief contact with someone about DVC about 5 years ago. We've never taken the tour, the contact was one or two phone calls from him as well as some information mailed to us. Is it possible that we already have a Guide assigned? Since we are just at the beginning of the resale purchase process, is it even possible to find out from MS if we have a Guide assigned to our name?

Chances are high that you will be assigned to the guide that you had previous contact with, provided they are still working for DVC. You can request a change if you have an issue with your guide, but other than that - it's basically whoever you first speak with becomes your guide.

And the title of "guide" is a bit of a misnomer. They are a sales person so unless you are planning on adding on direct from Disney you really won't have contact with them.

Once your resale closes then MS is the direction to go with questions you have about your membership.

And if you have not had contact with a DVC Guide prior to your resale purchase, you will "inherit" the Guide who originally sold that contract.

As stated above, they are sales consultants and no need to worry about contact unless you are seeking to buy more points direct from Disney.

When your purchase is completed just call the Preview Center and have a Manager assign you the Guide that you want.
