Just wondering, has anyone attended an assessment centre in reference to a job, ie Police recruitment.

I have to attend one on FRIDAY 13th, unlucky for me.

Been doing lots of reading and practice tests, no good at these verbal reseaoning tests.

Has anyone any advice on how to chill out and not get nervous or tongue tied.

I had to do one for my current job, and believe me it was very hard work, however, as I was in seccure employment when I went for the job and wasnt sure if I wanted it anyhow I didnt allow myself to get stressed.

Theres no point woirrying , just do ur best. This wasa the first that I had been to, I didnt practice at all, and I got thru.

Go fot it.

I'm lucky too, i have a full time job, this is a career development within the organisation i currently work for.

I have been informed that i have been lucky to get this far, over 2000 applicants for hundered or so jobs.

This has been the job i have always wanted to do as child, never thought i would get this far!

So i have every finger and toe crossed.

Good to hear, Like I said I didnt practive verbal reasoning or psychometric tests but I believe that it is possib;e. My company put us in a number of scenarios using professional actors and wanted to assess our communication skills, how wedealt with difficult issues, and also wither you can work as a team.

Best of luck

I sometimes help run these at work so hopefully I can offer a little insight.

You can get books out of the library on verbal reasoning tests and the like to practice. Some people say that this is the sort of thing you can either do or not, and any amount of practice won't help you. I say, at least if you've had a nosey at some example questions you know the sort of thing to expect and don't waste the first minute or two panicking ;)

My other advice would be stay calm. Deep breaths and take one question at a time. Don't be put off by others around you! The ones who scribble away madly and seem to cover lots often don't end up scoring that well!

Well done on your opportunity and lots of luck to you with it :)
