OK, here's the problem (question) we have had ressies at ASMo for months before the new AP rates came out and got such a great deal at Music that I changed them ($49 per night). The problem is that I had all this great research on ASMo, knew exactly what to ask for, where to stay, quieter rooms, etc.

Now, I need some info and recommedations for ASMu, please. We are a family of 4, myself, DH and 2 DD's (8 & 9). We are early risers and do the parks semi-commando style in that we like to be there the minute the gates open. We will probably grab a quick breakfast at the food court before leaving for our day. We have our own car for transportation and don't plan on using the buses. We don't particularly care about the view and wouldn't even consider a parking lot a bad one because we only sleep when we are in the room anyway. We'd like a quiet room, close to parking and sort of close to the food court. I realize that we can't have everything, but this is Disney after all and we'll be happy with whatever they give us, but would sure like to hear your experiences.

Thanks! :wave2:

Good luck! We were not impressed with ASMu, sad to say. I kept comparing it to the movies. The rooms were worn and the wallpaper and tile in the bathroom was more dated. It seemed dirtier to me. I can't remember which bldg we were in. However, we were there with all the cheerleaders in February which may have tainted the whole trip. Recently, we were given the same choice as you when we took advantage of the AP rate. We are going back in December but this time opted to try the Sports. However, we have two boys and ASSR may be more geared toward boys. Hope you have a wonderful trip.

We also stayed there in February, but we liked it a lot. Housekeeping always posed our stuffed animals and made towel animals for us, which though we'd heard a lot about never happened to us in any other Disney resort. We had a preferred room and requested pool view, so we were in Calypso building 1, the last corner room on the 3rd floor, next to Jazz Inn. The room was always quiet (I imagine 3rd floor and corner helped with that) even though we faced the pool. There was a parking lot right behind our building and it was the closest building to the food court. If you don't have a preferred room, I would request Jazz Inn, building 2, since it's the closest standard room to the food court, and since you won't be using buses, it's also close to a parking lot.

I loved staying there!!! It was quiet and it's close to the parking lot without having parking lot views!!! Yes, it's a little further to the food court, but it's actually the next set of buildings beyond Jazz - also, the themeing is GREAT!!!!

As you can see by my sig, it's my favorite value. Good luck with your decision!!! :wave2:

Thanks for all of the good info. I am still open to any one else's opinions that have had experience at the ASMu.

We've stayed at all the AS"s (music twice) and I always request garden (court) view Calypso. It's close to the main pool and the food court and at the end of a long "commando-styled"day you may appreciate the closeness of these things.I like all the All-Stars and have never really been disappointed!!Have a wonderful trip!!!!

We loved it and our kids loved the theming. Jazz is a great building to stay in for quiet and cloeness to the food court. Country Fair, while being far from teh food court has a quiet pool and is very secluded and quiet.

We stayed in the Calypso 3 years ago and we liked how close it was to the food court and the biggest pool they had there.

We just stayed at the All Star Music Resort in August and we loved this resort! We stayed in building 10 - the Calypso Building and we were on the 3rd floor on the back side of the building. This was a great location! It was very quiet on the 3rd floor because no one was above us and it was also quiet on the back side of the building. The Calypso Buildings are the closest buildings to the main pool, the food court, the gift shop, and bus stops, so they are very convenient. Have a great trip. I think you will enjoy this resort.

We stayed at the All Star Music in September and were in the Jazz building. This was our 5th time there and really enjoyed it. The resort has all that we need, excellent food court, great pools, and the staff could not be more helpful. Someday maybe we will upgrade to a moderate, or wow, maybe even a delux, but for now an All Star room is all we need.
We did tour a couple of the other resorts, the Poly and the Contemporary and hubby was most impressed. The Poly is beautiful with all the lush plants and theming, but we both agreed that for the money, for us anyway, it is just not worth it.
This is just one person's humble opinion.

We stayed at ASMu in April of this year and I have to say that we absolutely loved it. There were four of us, 2 adults and an 11 and 14yo. We paid the extra $10 for the preferred location. And it was money well spent. We had a corner room (1410) in the Calypso building. We were on the corner that was closest to the Main building. Just a minute's walk to the food court, arcade and less than that to the parking lot. Even though we faced the pool we did not hear any noise from that area. I think you will really enjoy this resort. Have a wonderful trip!

Thank you for all of this wonderful advice. I knew I could count on my friends from the DIS to get me the right information. I know now that I need to request a third floor room because they are less noisy. I never thought about that! What a great tip.

Now, does anyone know when I need to make my requests known?????

(There's always just one more question to be answered!)

Calypso is a preferred building. You'll need to pay an extra $10 per night to stay there.

Music is laid out differently from the other Allstars and there aren't as many buildings close to the food court. Jazz Inn has the closest non-preferred buildings. Next best would be Building 3 at Rock Inn or building 8 at Broadway. Avoid Country Fair unless you like walking.

We stayed in AS Music last Nov. for 12 days with the annual pass rate. We were in one of the Jazz buildings and liked it. Our first floor room overlooked the children's play area and was close to the parking lot, which was nice since we had our car. Also, we were close enough to AS Movies to walk around and look at the theming. I was not really impressed with Sports though. It seemed a little run down. Jazz was convenient to the food court and we had several meals there. I'm a picky eater and found the food pretty good with a nice selection. (Note: breakfast is wild--be prepared. It took awhile just to fill our mugs!) We did not use the pools. Housekeeping service was well above average and our room was very clean.

But for 12 days at $49 a night, we were thrilled. It was cheaper than the off-site room we had 2 years earlier, and we really felt safe walking around Disney property. This is priceless. (We had our car broken into 2 blocks from our off-site hotel.)

It was just 2 of us, so we did not feel cramped. The rooms are small, but the beds are high--you might be able to stash your luggage under them.

Enjoy your trip. Part of the magic is trying new things!:)

We stayed at the ASMu (me and my GF) in late May/early June and had a really great time. Of course, maybe our standards were lower since it was her first trip to WDW and my first since 1984, but we had a great time! We had requested a nonsmoking room in the Jazz Inn, but our room was not ready, so the CM at the desk offered us a free upgrade to Calypso, which we took, of course. :) I'd say that being in Calypso is easily worth the extra $10/night. We were in Building #1 on the fist floor, in the wing facing away from the pool, and we had no problems with noise whatsoever. Since we made extesive use of Disney transportation, being so close to the bus stop was a godsend.

However.... since you're not going to use the buses, I second other's opinions: try to get a parking lot view room in the Jazz Inn. This seems like the best mix of closesness to the food court and quiet.

Hi - we are staying at All Star Movies next month for a couple of days. I've been trying to find info on where to stay but have been unable to (these boards move so fast). Since you did some research can you please share with me what you would recommend? I would really appreciate it. Thanks and good luck with your room at All Star Music!! Also if you find out how to request a room I'd like to know that too!!

Hello nicley! The best way to request a room is to ote your request with the reservationist at the time of reservation, and then fax in your request a few days before.

This page

should help you with that.

As for where to stay at the ASMo, I don't know, I've never been, but I'm sure someone can help you with that. :D

We just got back from ASMu and stayed in the Jazz building. It was a great location! We were right between the two pools and we faced a lovely courtyard. We brought our own car, but after trying the bus transportation, we stuck with that. It was so nice to be driven right up to the parks. We never waited more than 5 or ten minutes for a bus. Also, our room was very neat and clean and the food in the food court was delicious.
