ASMu FS or CR without car?

We are a family of five(one infant) and are debating where to stay. My 7yo wants to stay at CR, and if we did that we couldn't rent a car. The other option we are considering is ASMu FS and renting a car. With a car we can buy diapers and groceries and leave parks when we want. Without a car at CR, we can catch the monorail easily or walk back from MK and have groceries delivered. What would you all do?:confused3 Thanks for the help.;)

With an infant staying at the Contemporary would be better because of the Monorail, having the walkway for the Magic Kingdom and being the 1st stop on the Disney Transport buses when being picked up and dropped off. However if you think having a car will make things easier maybe you should consider the All Star Family Suites, if you plan to spend a lot of time offsite purchasing all the items you would need.

would say CR - your children will feel more special - of course that might be a bad thing.

besides with your age group - the main park will be the MK. So again CR.

there are several services that will buy and delivery your groceries - might have the diapers shipped - so they are there when you arrive.

We stayed this past Feb. at ASMovies (pretty much the same as ASMusic) with our kids, including an infant. It was the first trip with a car and it made such a huge difference as opposed to our trips using Disney transportation. It was very manageable and considering how little time we spent in the room I'm glad we didn't spend extra money for a deluxe resort. If you choose CR it will be convenient for MK and EPCOT because you can use the monorails, but what about the other parks? I guess it depends on what your plans are and how much time you plan on spending at or near the resort.

Depends on how much you drive while on property. My fiance and I visit about once a month, and once we arrive, we very rarely use our car again. I agree with others that the monorail and convenience to the MK will be a big plus for you. Of course, you run the risk of getting "IOnlyStayInDeluxe-Itis" which could increase the cost of future vacations dramatically:lmao:

I'd stay at CR to minimize your bus use. Riding on the bus with an infant and all the gear that goes with is no picnic. I just did that. We used garden grocer for grocery delivery and they were great. The traffic around Disney can be nuts, so I wouldn't want to drive everyday.

Well, we did it a little backwards. I've stayed at CR WITH a car, and at ASMu without a car. I will never, ever, ever, EVER stay at an All Stars without a car again. I swear we wasted an hour everytime we went to go somewhere by relying on Disney buses. Of course the fact that we were in the Broadway section just made it even worse. Our front door was right at the parking lot though- it would have been nice to have car! One night at the MK, after MNSSHP, I decided enough was enough and we took a cab back. Well, they aren't allowed to go past the front, so he wouldn't even drive us back to our room. My feet were killing me that night! :guilty:

Staying at CR without a car wouldn't be a problem if you think you are spending most of your time at the MK anyway.

Having just experienced ASmu connecting rooms (non-FS), I would do that again. But the extra bathroom and sibling separation probably aren't a big deal for you yet, so I could see it either way.

I always like to have a car. For this last trip, however, we did a DVC sales pitch and were separated from our car for a day. Wasn't so bad. Perhaps if you did a Chef Mickey's that would get DSs CR fix in?

It might come down to where you're spending most of your time and if mid-day naps are a must. ASmu is much closer to AK.

FWIW - we have been to Disney more times than we can count and have never rented a car. There is really no need for it. Disney transportation does awonderful job of getting more busses out on the roads when it is a busier time. You are dopped off right in front, no need to pay for parking and then take a tram back to your car with tired little ones.

With that said, I also feel there is absolutely no comapison between ASMu and CR. If you can swing it financially, CR is definitely the way to go. You won't be sorry and will never miss the car.

Good Luck in whatever you chose and have a great trip!
