We have just started making plans to take a short Xmas vacation to WDW this year. I was able to snag a 1BR at SSR this week for 12/25-28, but need something for the weekend of 12/28-30. I hate using points for weekends and don't mind the move. I know I can get a Savannah studio for 80 points (or a value 1BR for 55 for one of the nights) or just book a room in a Family Suite at ASMu for $285 plus tax per night. (I'd probably rent 60 points to cover the cost.) I'm leaning towards ASMu. What would you do?

We used the ASMu family suite for the first Saturday night of our trip (last January) to avoid the cost of weekend points at OKW. It worked great for us. We were four - me, DH, DS aged 18, DD aged 11. The two bathrooms were important to us, and the fridge and micro were enough for the one night.

It worked so well, that we are starting our January trip this year the same way. We may even do Fri and Sat at ASMu family suite, and then on to OKW for six nights.

To minimize packing/unpacking for that first night, we keep our one-day clothing and toiletries in one overnight bag. The big luggage doesn't get unpacked until we get to OKW.
