What is a preferred room? Do you call reservations and request or wait till you arrive?

Since they don't have coffee makers in the room where would I purchase a travel one?

At ASMo, a preferred room is one in the Fantasia section. It is closest to the main pool and the food court. You will pay an extra $10/night for one of these rooms, and to be honest, I don't think it's worth the extra $$$. I know that some people feel that certain rooms are quite a distance from the main area ... we've never found this to be true (except when we were at CBR this past Feb and it was a heck of a long walk to the food court ;) )
If you do want one of these rooms, it's best to request it when you make your reservation.

I personally love the Toy Story section ! But then again, the whole resort is just soooo much fun!

The preferred rooms are 10-15 $$ more each night...when we stayed at the Fantasia Bldg it was just given to us at check in because that was all that was available. If you want to be "close" to food court and pool let them know when you make your reservation. Everything is pretty close, but less walking to the food court for the moring coffee was nice.

Honestly, I wouldn't spend the extra money on a preferred room at ASMo. I don't think it's worth it. Toy Story and Dalmatians are just as close to the main building and buses, you just aren't right next to the pool.

Love Bug Building 7 seemed awfully far away from the food court in the morning...when I was juggling an armload of refillable mugs! It's a nice walk, but not in the rain!

I wouldn't stay in Love Bug either. We didn't even venture down that way to check things out. I think that is a great location if you are looking for something quieter.

Ive paid for a preferred room as I am too lazy to walk and I want to be sure I have a close room. Whilst Toy Story and Dalmation are also close they are also very popular so you cannot guarantee you would get them.

I would rather pay and at least know what I am getting.

We stayed at the Movies this summer 1st time, we have stayed at the Music at like 4 - 5 times. We got the first Dalmation bldg. It was great . It was actually a few steps closer than the Fantasia bldg, lol. We also had a lot of rain this summer and we still walked all around the Bldgs just to see them. ANd honestly, it takes a couple of min. really its not more than a few min. walk. We loved this place. ENjoy , and have a great time........

I am of the same opinion--if something is important, plan for it and pay for it! That way you have the peace of mind of knowing you will get what is really important to you! Although I have always had my requests granted (and then some), there are some things not worth risking...(like savannah view at AKL, where I hope to go some day!)

I paid for the Fantasia bldg just because I was afraid of being stuck with a room a mile away from everything. (I have a 5yo who will want to be where the action is.) I orginally thought I would take the standard view and hope for a Fantasia or even at the very least a Toy Story room at checkin but then realized I may be stuck with a Love Bug! I figure I can ask at checkin if there is a Toy Story available and downgrade but I didnt want to risk not being able to upgrade if stuck with a bad bldg!
