We were there from 8/9-8/14, through Charley and all.
After we finally left WDW, DH said we will never stay at ASMo again. Let me explain, it has nothing to do with the CM's, every CM that we met, from check in to check out were great!!!
Our biggest problems were with other guests. We had a "neighbor" for some reason set the alarm to go off at 6:30 am and then just let it go off, it seemed like forever to us, until 8:30. Then of course DH expericend the "Turbo Toliets". Cause of these boards I was prepared for them and told DH before we left, but he couldn't believe just how loud they were.
Then to top it all off at the end of our stay, we met Charley. Friday when we woke up we decied that we would check out and get on the road early before Charley hit. As we were loading up the kids a security guard in a van/SUV pulled up behind us and asked if we were heading home. When DH informed him that we were, he told us that I-4, I-75, and I-95 were bumper to bumper and that it would be best for us for one of us to go back into our room and for the other to go to the front desk and get out room back and stay there the night. That we would be alot safer then being out on the roads, possiably having to find somewhere to stay anyways. He said he was looking out for the saftey of the guests. DH and I did what he said, I went back into the room and DH went back up to the front desk to get our room back. While DH was gone I received a call in the room from some guy saying that what the security guard told us wasn't right and that the roads would be closing at 3 pm if we wanted to leave. Luckily 3 minutes later, DH showed up saying we got our room back. I told him about the call and he said there is nothing they can do about it now since the room was offically ours again.
Since they were only having the parks open till 1 that day we decied to just stick around the resort and go swimming. When I went back out to the van to get our bathing suits and clothes, I saw the same security guard talking to two guys that were wearing ties {must have been imporant guys, never saw anyone before them in ties around WDW}. While I was getting things out, the security guard pulled up behind the van and asked if it was a new one {to me he was making small talk in front of the guys} When those guys left, I asked him if he got in trouble for telling us what he did. All he said to me was, that he wasn't telling anymore guests what to do. Now to me this security guard saved our lives!!! We could have been stuck on the roads when Charley came through or would have gotten stuck in a shelter somewhere taking up space from a family who really needed it. While talking to the guard, a woman from Tennessee was going to do the samething that we were going to do and leave. But when she went to check out they told her at the front desk it would be best if she just stayed there, cause she would have food, water and electricy. Where alot of hotels anywhere else probably won't have during and after Charley hit. No one at the front desk told me anything about staying.
I told DH that I ran into the guard again and what he told me about not telling guests what he told us. DH made a bee line up to the front desk to complain that the guard should not have gotten in trouble or anything else for what he told us. To him {DH} that should be WDW's responsiably to look out for their guests and safety, not just in the parks and resorts, and that is what the guard was doing.
Luckily we got an extra day to use anytime we want before 2013, just like everyone else on that day.
What a way to end our very first ever trip to WDW.

Was there any other reason not to stay there again besides the toilets & the alarm neighbor? How was the rest of the stay there?
