For anyone else staying at ASMO between Sept 11th and Dec 11th I just heard the Fantasia pool at ASMO will be closed for refurbishment during that period. Here's a link to Allears http://www.allearsnet.com/tp/rehabs.htm#oct

This is so disappointing. I'm thinking of switching to AS Music or else requesting a section still in ASMO but near Music.

The smaller pool and kiddie pool will remain open and of course we can use the pools at the other 2 All Stars but still, it's not the same. The pool is so important to my kids, especially my older two. How often do we (as in those of us in UK/Ireland) get a chance to swim in a pool outdoors? Not very often with our weather! :lmao:

Anyway, just thought everyone going there should know.

As an aside, I thought I'd add, in case anyone didn't know (cause I was surprised to read this recently), they changed the preferred buildings to Toy Story, Dalmations and Fantasia. All 3 of those buildings now cost extra.

I know ... but they have to do it sometime. Our last visit was coincided with the shutdown & revamp of "It's a Small World" which was a real bonus!

Deb, I know how you feel, totally.

While I absolutely agree that refurbs have to take place to keep things looking how we expect at Disney, it is a disappointment when it is something as material to your stay as the main swimming pool.

I think I might be tempted to change to one of the other All Star resorts, too.

we have stayed when they have rehabed pool at ASMovies we asked at check in can they transfer us to pop. This they did no problem and for the members in our party whom dident have a car they drove them over there

 I am so sad, the Fantasia pool themeing was the main reason we chose ASMo, not sure what to do now. :confused3

I know. I think we'll all need to decide soon! A lot of people will switch to Music/Sports because of this! I'm also just thinking of the extra crowds at the Music pool (as that's the nearest one for everyone at ASMO to use). Flippin' heck we'll be lucky if we don't lose the kids!!!

Miffy, thanks for the kind words. You're a gem of a moderator!! :cloud9:

PaulH, that was good that they provided transport. Although I guess it's the least they could do too. Imagine all the people who are booked now and have no access to the internet for Disney updates (i.e. the non-obsessed folk :teeth: ). Checking into a hotel in Florida which doesn't have a pool. It sounds very wrong!!!

I can't believe they are closing it again this year! It was closed for refurbishing when we were there this past January! :confused3

Last April too!! They were handing out shoe-horns to everyone that tried to get into the Mighty Ducks pool!! :teeth: :lmao:

Just rang front desk at ASMo and the CM said they have had no notification of this as yet. She will contact the recreation department when they open at 2pm GMT and ask them for more info as it is they who deal with these things. Will post again later when I find out from them what exactly is happeneing!

Did you get charged for amending? Virgin want to charge me £25 per person to swap to Music or Sport! No way!

yes £50 but to me it was worth it, I don't want to be crowded around the ducks pool or the ASMu pool, we like a quick dip in the evenings and don't want to walk for miles to get back to the room.

Just had confirmation from ASMo, Fantasia pool WILL be closed from Sept 11th to Dec 11th. Rats!!!!!!!! :badpc:

At least we know now, thanks John.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll take into account that the ASMu pool will be full.

Thanks John. I'm glad the resort confirmed it. Well no, I wish they hadn't but you know what I mean!

I'm going to try for all All Star Music and ask them to let me keep the AAA discount I have.
