What do people bring with them to eat in the suites? I know there is a small fridge and microwave so I was looking for creative 'snack or meal' ideas. I don't want to leave property to go to the grocery store, so whatever I have will be brought in my suitcase or bought at the resort. For now, I know I'm going to bring easy mac, peanut butter and jelly, bread, cereal, popcorn and oatmeal. Any ideas would be great!!!

some canned soups or pastas are fine. But we used the fridge for mostly leftovers from meals and for drinks. There are some grocery items in the gift shop, but i did not need to go, so not sure what they were.

I was wondering the same thing! We are staying in a family suite for free dining in Sept. I thought I would bring pop tarts, oatmeal, danishes, cheese cubes, corned beef hash, tuna, crackers. I also usually make 2 dozen muffins at home and pack them in the suitcase.

We stayed in the Suites last year, and we are staying in one again in November.

We brought some of the same things already mentioned.

Easy Mac, oatmeal, popcorn, poptarts, lots of different kinds of crackers, fruit snacks, cereal, Nutri-grain bars, fruit cups, applesauce, tortilla chips

Cold things: Half-gallon of milk, Gogurts yogurt, cheese slices, package of lunch meat, jello, salsa

I bring my own tea bags for hot tea that I drink before bed. Also I bring my own Sweet and Low. Hot chocolate packets for the kids. I bring one of those tins of Mocha. I don't drink coffee, but I loved having the microwave to make my Mocha to drink every morning.

Of course lots of juice boxes and bottles of water and Gatorade.

I might think of something else later! :)

We will be at the ASMu Suites next month, and I placed an order with Garden Grocer for snacks and things. Here is the order:

Bananas
Coke
Water
Donuts
Cereal
Pop-Tarts
Brownies
Cookies
Microwave Bacon
Bagels
Chips
Milk

When we have stayed in Villas before we also ordered lunch meat, cheese, ravioli, pasta sauce, apple slices, and a few other things I can't think of. The pasta made a easy, filling dinner. Our trip this time is only 4 days, and we are planning on just doing breakfast in the room. I didn't want to over order, and I figured we could always get a few things from the gift shop if we needed to.

You don't have to leave property to get basic groceries. Just go to any DVC resort. When I stay in a studio (same basic cooking facilities as ASM Suite) I usually bring dry ingredients from home, like bread, peanut butter, chips, salsa, Uncle Ben's microwave rice (some of the flavored ones are really good), ready to microwave soups, etc., and then supplement with cheese, fresh fruit, and other perishables from the resort shop. The regular resort gift shops do carry a wide variety of snacks, like chips, cookies, doughnuts, etc., but the DVC and FW stores are better.

Another idea is to get pre-made sandwiches from the food court as you're passing through to have for a later meal. For example, if you are coming back from the park and planning to hit the pool for a while, stop and pick up some sandwiches and pop them in the fridge for later. I like to heat up the meat and cheese part of the sandwich and then put it back on the bread.

The DVC stores tend to be expensive. We use them ocassionally for things we run out of like bread or milk, but we try to get what we need elsewhere, like Walmart or Publix. I don't know about the AS suites, but the paper plates/bowls and eating utensils provided in the DVC studios are pretty skimpy. We bring disposable plastic plates, bowls, etc. from home. They can be rinsed off and reused. We also bring salt & pepper, sugar, coffee, coffee filters (the flat bottomed kind) and dry creamer. Ziploks and plastic storage containers are handy, too.

When we stay in a studio, we don't "cook" with just the microwave (some members do - and they bring crock pots and Foreman grills), but we do make breakfasts of cereal, coffee, toast and juice, and we heat up soups, snacks and leftovers from meals we eat in the parks. It's much more "user friendly" than the regular hotel rooms.
