1) Am I going to be super disappointed in the mickey waffles on board? I hear mixed reviews that they may taste bad, but they are like crack at the parks.

2) Can I get a Dole Whip on board?

1. IMHO, At the buffet they are not so great. In the MDR for breakfast they were very good.
2. No

1) You might find them to be a bit lukewarm at the buffet... BUT we had chocolate mickey waffles and they were amazing!

My 14 year old DD loves Mickey waffles. Just not at Cabanas. :) the quality of them in th MDR is much better.

No Dole Whip. But you could always get some soft serve ice cream and possibly some pineapple juice to pour over them..

Or rum. :)
Like a rootbeer float only more fun.

The one day on the magic last September the soft serve had pineapple ice cream but wasn't the same! I did the pineapple juice however and ice cream and it was fab

1) The Mickey waffles were awesone on the Magic last week! However there is a secret.. don't tell anyone.... they make them at the very back of the buffet line, if you go and ask the CM very nicely to grab you a couple from the maker, they will smile and oblige. Hot, fresh, fluffy... oh yeah... ;)

They get soggy on the buffet. Go to the MDR and order a batch for breakfast. Much better

Never had the waffles but it is generally advised to avoid the ones at the buffet.

No Dole Whips onboard.

OMG, that's so sad that the waffles are sub-par! :( Always my favorite thing about breakfast in the parks at least..

i think the best answer is that its "inconsitent" but that is "consistent" with my experience at WDW. You can get a good or bad one and Cabanas would be the same.

In my opinion, most of the items at the buffet that have counterparts in the MDR in the morning are better in the MDR. Food just tastes better prepared a la minute. On our first cruise, we didn't even KNOW we could have breakfast in the MDR. If you're in a hurry or have an early excursion, it may not be an option to take the extra time. But on a sea day, I definitely think it's worth it. We also enjoy lunch in the MDR as well, for the same reason - food cooked to order to our specifications.

Dumb question...is the MDR any of the three dining rooms? Or only one of them - if so, which one? Thanks!

MDR stands for "Main Dining Room" and on DCL can refer to any of the three rotational dining rooms. But usually there is one that serves buffet breakfast and another with table service breakfast, and this same one will serve table service lunch. Which one it is will vary by ship.

Does the personal navigator for the day let you know which one is open for breakfast that day?

Only one of them is open for breakfast and lunch. The Navigator will list which one it is. I believe it's usually Lumiere's/Triton's on the Classics and Royal Court/Royal Palace on the Dream class.

Thank you! <3
