Asking for More Good Thoughts for Hannah-UPDATED

Hannah, the daughter of a fellow teacher, is the baby who suffered from Shaken Baby Syndrome inflicted by her babysitter. There were several threads about her and her condition in December and January. Hannah's mom was able to return to work in late February, and Hannah has been at home with her father and grandmother. Seemingly, everything had been going very well for Hannah. This morning when Lori was getting ready for work, she realized Hannah was running a fever. Upon contacting her doctor, Lori was instructed to bring Hannah to Scottish Rite to be seen. The concern is that the fever may cause seizures. I have to believe that is only a minor setback. However, if you have any spare good thoughts and prayers, please send them Hannah's way. Thanks, everyone.

I finally talked with Lori this afternoon. Hannah just had a virus! (Thank goodness!) Apparently, whenever Hannah runs a fever, she will have to go to her neurologist. She has to be checked for pressure on her brain, and they must watch for seizures. If she were to have a seizure, it could be difficult to get them under control. This just goes to further emphasize what incredible damage that beast of a person did to this precious baby. To think that she might get off with little to no jail time is disgusting.

I think about Hannah a lot, I hope she's doing alright considering all she's been through.

I missed the story the first time around. Is her development delayed then? Do they know to what extent?

I cannot believe people would do this. I used to get frustrated with DD when she was first born, and if I just couldn't take it, I put her down in her crib and left for a few minutes to collect my thoughts. This only happened a couple of times and I blame hormones. I cannot understand what people are thinking taking a job babysitting, getting paid for it and not thinking more clearly.

I hope things get alot better for her.

The trial was postponed until June. As far as permanent damage, it is just way too soon to tell. She will more than likely have to go through the third surgery before the summer to remove the old blood that is still on her brain. They go weekly for appointments and CT scans. Like Lori told me this morning, their lives have been changed forever. She also said that is very common for a child who suffered from SBS to develop seizures months later. So scary... Thanks everyone for the prayers and good thoughts.
