Ask Me Anything

Thanks for posting! Very cool!

What is your favorite thing about your job? What is the most difficult thing about it?

I will be sailing on the Fantasy in Oct and want to bring some candy from home for the youth counselors? What are some of the favorites? (besides chocolate - that will melt before I ever get onboard!!!) I have brought candy before when we cruised and given it to the YC but they really didn't seem all that excited to receive it...on the other hand, our waiter gave my husband two extra creme brulee's at dinner (after he had already eaten one) and he couldn't eat any more so he left those when we picked up our son and that seemed to make them VERY happy!

Thanks!
Kathy

Individually wrapped candies or treats work best. People can just grab and go.

Hi! While we always love when we get the opportunity to eat nice food (because let's face it, crew mess food isn't always fabulous!) it is not really appropriate for us to be eating guest food and more likely we will get into trouble. Small candy or other wrapped treats are great if you would like to do that. But we do not expect anything! We just love making sure you have a magical cruise!!

We have noticed some particular activities scheduled in the club/lab we know our 3 year old (potty trained!) DGS would really enjoy. We have heard the activities are not announced, and even if they were, we are not sure he would be aware of them if he was engaged in something else. Can we request he be reminded or helped to find the particular activity, such as Journey to Neverland or Stitches Luau if he is already in the club/lab? Or would we have to check him in at that particular time to deliver him there ourselves? It looks like most activities are in 30 minute increments, and that doesn't leave us much time for adult activities if we need to go make sure he gets to them. We know he will love the clubs and engage in free play, but we really want him to experience lots of the activities with characters.

Just a little clarification, please. A 3 year old goes to Oceaneer's, correct? Or is 3 an "overlap" age that can utilize both the nursery & Oceaneer's?

Yes ^^^ I need to know the answer to this. I want to use both for my 3 yr old twins. I want to use the nursery just when we eat at Palo. Otherwise I'll put them in the club

My 13 year old son is an early admit to high school. He also looks like he is 17. He is a hair under six foot tall and has a full mustache. Will he be forced into Edge due to his age, or will he be allowed in Vibe when we are on the Fantasy in just under three weeks? He will not be 14 until November, but he is used to being with, and is far more comfortable with 15 and 16 year olds.

Hi! There is every possibility that he will be able to move up to Vibe. You will need to wait until your cruise and talk to the Counselors in vibe. Unfortunately as I will not be on your cruise I cannot confirm or deny for you right now. Enjoy your cruise!

HI!! This is so cool. We are going on our first cruise ever next year and are so excited. I know the kids clubs are supposed to be so great. My son is going to be 12 and just wondering what kind of stuff he will do at Edge. What do you think he is going to enjoy the most? I also have a daughter who will be 9 and just wondering what kind of stuff she will be doing. I just didn't know what you found to be the biggest hit at the clubs....

Hi! Can't wait until Dec. 2015 to cruise on the Wonder! Just read that we can no longer drop stuff off on the first day to be signed for the week and the items be returned (like frame mats and pillowcases). What gives? Is this true? Thanks!

My 16 and 14 year old daughters are asking me what activities are offered in Vibe. Is it just hanging out, dancing, etc, or are there actual games and activities for them to do?

Yes, it's true. A fairly recent change. There were a few threads about it when the news came out last month:

We're going on a Wonder Alaskan cruise in August 2016 (our first ever cruise!). I've looked at personal navigators from this year and saw that the Edge club has an activity called 'Villainous Ventures', do they have that activity in Vibe as well? I'll have girls in both Edge and Vibe (they will be 12 and 16 next summer) and I know both kids would love it.

Thanks for all the work you do as a youth counselor!

Thanks for this. I had the same question. My daughter is 13, however she just started her freshman year of high school. I am certain that she would prefer to be in Vibe with other high school kids. We travel on the Dream September 4 and hopefully the Vibe counselors will allow her to move up.
